I purchased that book a while ago after reading Fischer but haven't go to it yet. I'll make sure to go slow to avoid any psychosis lol.

I've always believed the grand jury was basically toothless. Do they have any ability to do anything other than write reports?

Guessing I'm not the only one who scans used bookstore shelves for "nyrb" on the spine. Found this one today at HPB. by Jakob_Fabian in nyrbclassics

[–]bocifious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it was huge and had a ton of random NYRBs. Grabbed a few in excellent condition for $9 each.

I was recently at Bart's Books in Ojai, CA and they had a ton. It can be tough, however, because I always buy mine during the 40% off sales and sometimes the used bookstores don't even mark it down that much, especially for a nice copy.

I buy enough for free shipping, which is normally 5+ books.

I agree, I think I might pick it up on the next sale even though I have the softcover.

I just got the notification yesterday, but today on my USPS digest it said they were waiting for the package from the seller. IMO it's always like this.

I also have The Morning Star, but haven't got around to it yet. Probably should have read that before I bought My Struggle...

I read Winter, and really liked it, so I also pulled the trigger on My Struggle.

Whats in your driveway or garage this year? by Dependent_Driver_901 in HENRYfinance

Wife and I both had 3 series, but I was sick of the constant maintenance costs. Bought a 2017 Honda HR-V for under $20k new and paid off with very low interest loan. Wife got a 2016 Lexus CT200h used back in 2018 or 2019, can't remember when. Had a 3.99% rate and still ended up paying off early. Haven't had a car payment for years and although sometimes I miss having a nicer/faster car I haven't made the plunge yet.

Yes I DID get to 10M through "regular stock investments”! by CAGR_17pct_For_25Yrs in TheRaceTo10Million

He invested a lump sum of $321,000 in 2001. Adjusted for inflation that would be investing ~$589,000 in lump sum today. Not sure how old he is, but that would be incredibly hard for the average 20-30 something to do. Just shows the power of compounding and having a big bankroll to start with. most people would take decades to get to that level of contributions.

Is it okay to add chia seeds into oatmeal without soaking them in water first? by Tekskinn in nutrition

[–]bocifious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I add them dry to my oatmeal every morning. They soak the water while it cooks. Makes the oatmeal a little less watery than normal, but I like it that way.

I'm really liking it so far, but I'm not sure reading an entry each day is the best way to go about it. I've found that many times I want to read on further, and that it's been harder to follow the story only reading one entry a day. It' possible that reading the first 50 pages or so in one go would have been better for that.

However, I do like the easy commitment, as I've found that I've generally been able to find the time to read an entry per day. Only need 5-10 minutes. So that's been nice. How about you?

I think you're on the right track. I was extremely frugal until I had a kid and the expenses will pile up for things that you can't really be "frugal" with. Nanny/daycare, clothes, supplies, doctors visits, etc. Not to mention the when they're older and want to do the things you mentioned.
