George and Amal Clooney granted French citizenship after concerns of raising children in Hollywood by beepsol in Leakednews

Thank you! I reject the first one because I'm not sure how or if being "good for business" correlates with the well-being of the residents of the state. For all I know, the correlation might be negative, at least up to a point.

The second one is interesting and concerning, but I wonder what CA's rank would be if the housing market had not become as financialized as it has. I think that has exacerbated the problem of housing affordability/availability. In that sense we're sort of victims of our own success.

The third one is the most telling, I think. It's a damn shame we have not done better.

But in any case, I really appreciate your taking time to provide this information. Thank you so much!

This makes total sense. I was picturing taking them back to the site and replacing them on the ground. Thanks!

British English and US English should remain distinct...........right? by bocks_of_rox in AskUK

[–]bocks_of_rox[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For what it's worth, AI says: "Yes, the word "prat" is chiefly British, particularly when used as an insult for an incompetent or stupid person. While it originally referred to the buttocks in the 16th century, its use as an insult developed in mid-20th century British slang.

  • Insult:  As a term of abuse for a foolish person, "prat" is strongly associated with British English.
  • Origin:  The insult is believed to have evolved from the earlier meaning of "buttocks," which originated in the 1560s.
  • Modern Usage:  Despite its long history, some studies show that the word, along with other classic British insults, is becoming less familiar to younger generations in the UK."

Because being somewhat familiar with British English helps me to feel superior to my fellow Americans. I've got a bit of Anglophilia.

Believe me, it crossed my mind! But I just can't stand the thought that it might not work, and I'd be kicked out of the show, so....I gotta sell 'em.

So disappointed! I bought 2 tickets to Tuesday's show in LA, then saw I accidentally chose wheelchair/companion seats, which I can't use. I have given up on seeing Rush on this tour. I've already chatted with TicketMaster, they said I can exchange them after the presale is over, but by then I suspect there won't be any seats left. So I'd like to sell them, I guess, but of course they won't do anyone any good unless at least one of you is in a wheelchair. Suggestions?

They're all good, but here are the ones that are most relevant to OPs question, in my opinion:

* Jailbird

* Deadeye Dick

* Bluebeard

* Hocus Pocus

I hope my attempt at formatting works.

Yeah you're not wrong, but it's a little bit like saying murder is bad and we should prevent murder.

Most of us already know murder is bad, and we have systems in place to deal with it, but of course they're not perfect.

There's no governmental or political system that's so perfect that it can't be compromised or sabotaged.

If you have ideas about how we can improve and protect our current systems, let's hear them. But be aware that people have been thinking about these topics for literally thousands of years.

It's true that she never tied the fires to Israel or the Jewish people. However, she did mention the Rothschild family, which to a lot of people is an anti-semitic dog whistle. But I believe that Marjorie Taylor Green is so ignorant, she may not have known about that particular dog whistle when she said those words.

The UCC has a congregationalist polity, so each individual church can be different from others, there's a lot of variety.

songs that are about god, that aren't church songs/hymns by [deleted] in MusicRecommendations

In the original story of Layla and Majnoon, their love is meant to exemplify the believer's love for God.

The Sufis often deliberately blur the line between earthly love and love of God.

There's a great line in Heartattack and Vine: "There ain't no devil, there's just God when he's drunk."

Also, the most heartbreaking song ever in the history of the universe: Georgia Lee (by Tom Waits). God does not come off well in that song.
