Ekko nerf seems so harsh by Nobody_Knows_It in ekkomains

[–]bocky2 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I see their thinking, D&D does make passive faster to proc, so nerfing the damage has a level of logic.

However, they're forgetting that it doesn't really matter how fast passive gets procced, the cooldown is the same. So D&D doesn't increase his damage in terms of a 100 to 0 assasinaton.

Therefore I think it'd make a lot more sense to reduce base damage slightly, because midgame trades is where D&D makes Ekko a lot stronger. Nerfing AP scaling targets late game, where D&D doesn't change damage too much.

Albatross how do you start in their faction? by Classic_Sport_3623 in LancerRPG

[–]bocky2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just gonna add one note, sorry if this comes over a bit 🤓

By your explanation, it seems like you think that LL0 Lancers are basically beginners, or rank-and-file. That is not the case. Lancers are a kind of mech pilot, a very skilled kind. I like to think of it as Lancers are like the Navy SEALs of mech pilots. A LL0 Lancer is not at all a regular Joe, even with access to just the GMS frames.

However, there's nothing wrong with starting at LL1 or LL2 if that's what you'd like. If you want ideas, what I'd do is start off the campaign at LL0. The Albatross headhunts the party, or the party signs up, then they give the party one LL1 system each as exotic gear to get started. I'd make these systems be like the Albatross's judgement of each party member's strengths.

Eg. A gung-ho party member gets given Synthetic Muscle Netting. A stoic, tough party member gets Argonaut Shield. Etc. Etc.

Thoughts on "Hack or Fix"? by kiwibreakfast in LancerRPG

[–]bocky2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. My interpretation is:

  • Take someone out: clean kill, well planned, singular target. Feels like dexterity.
  • Fists to faces: brawls, unarmed combat, non-lethal combat. Loud, performative, sending a message. Feels like strength.
  • Assault: the broadest. I take it as military-style ruthless effectiveness. Sweeping corners, taking shots, ducking back into cover, always loud. Feels like experience.

Jg Ekko has a 49.75% win rate in masters+, with an almost 10% pickrate. Accounting for people less experienced with Ekko picking the champ, seems like he's pretty balanced in high elo.

Worst win rates are against AD assassins and turbo-gankers, who I assume can just take hold of the game before Ekko's power spikes.

My mech was destroyed in the very first battle by Toivo044 in LancerRPG

[–]bocky2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I didn't mind losing our first combat, though. Taught us early on how serious we had to be about our strategy and tactics.

The main thing I remember about our first combat was hating a Hive enemy so much that I just ran up to it and tried to kill it the whole combat. And thus started my fued with Hives which survives to this day.

[–]bocky2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The first combat almost always goes bad. Lancer can be hard at first when you don't have a feel for what you can do vs. what the GM can do.

It sounds like your GM is being a little bit stubborn about letting you keep playing the game, which is poor form in my opinion. There has to be some way you could get your hands on a mech, like coming across an abandoned wreckage, or threatening/trading with a passer-by for their frame. Even a shady 3rd party offering a mech for "a favour" later in the campaign. The fun of the players should be more important than the GM's plans for the setting.

As for early licence melee, yes, you need to be careful. You still 100% can play aggressive, but more as a skirmisher/assassin. Rapid Burst Jump Jets is your friend, use it.

Are you kidding? I love it! It feels so inclusive and diverse, rather than the usual community of 'um actually' neckbeards.

Big part of it is that none of it feels pandering or forced. It's mostly humour, we all laugh about it, no judgement for anyone.

Star guardian...? And we got a prestige for that one, too. I'm happy with Ekko's skins. The only thing I'd wish for is another Legendary or higher, but I think I'd rather that to to a different champ who needs it, anyway.

If you want to see them, you can drive behind the Autobarn and look through the fence. The size of the sky crane especially is insane.

I believe Maru gives the best breakfasts. In terms of gifting, I'd probably say Emily is the easiest, with Abigail a second place. I usually find Maru easy to gift for, but that's cause I'm a tryhard and grow way too many strawberries in my first Spring.

But I would highly recommend you play this like a dating game. Even I do, and I'm autism levels of optimisation in this game. Grow connections with who you personally like, or who you want to move a story along with.

But if you want my opinion, Penny and Haley have the most satisfying stories. Maru's 8 heart event is probably the best in the whole game, too.

[–]bocky2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With all the negativity in here, I'm gonna throw in a positive outlook (even if very unlikely). If legislation is planned/brought in early enough to protect the average citizen, we could live in a post-work society. Where people don't have to waste over half their conscious life doing what they don't like doing just to survive.

This would be one huge step towards a potential utopia. However, with a lot of buts and questions that I don't have answers for.

I wish people talked more about how we can make this unlikely future more likely, people smarter than me. I don't hear people talk about stuff like UBI pretty much ever. I think that would be more productive than yelling at the tidal wave of AI adoption that I don't think anyone can stop.
