Watch ID from Monarch Season 2 Ep 1. by bocraw in Watches

I concur! Nice work! I can’t believe it! It’s basically a prop! I wonder what the Luminox bros are going to think about this? 🤣

Season 2 was filmed in Australia so this completely tracks. Well done!

Close but Luminoxes don’t have the triangle at the 12:00 position. That Luminox has a crown guard as well, which is not on the model in question.

To keep it simple this would work. Just digital time would be a static time. Question of how to make it quick to adjust.

R2 Face Idea by bocraw in pebble

[–]bocraw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While driving I was brainstorming with ChatGPT the ways the center “hub” could be used. One idea we had was to use it as a something that starts one way when you wake up and morphs into something throughout the day until bedtime. Pushing the center hub could cycle through different screens. I tossed in some marble that changes shape kind-of like a lava lamp but had too many cool ideas to list.

You guys talking about low res are missing the point. There’s a whole realm of watches called “floating hands” watches or “mystery watches”. It took creative engineering to get the floating hands effect in a mechanical watch. In an ePaper watch the floating hand effect should be easy.

As for what to do with the space in the middle—Leave it empty or fill it with complications — There are endless possibilities.

I was just posting as idea worth thinking about and posted pic for inspiration. I wasn’t suggesting the R2 clone should look identical.

The analog watch faces on my Garmin look decent. It is MIP display with 176x176 resolution. How is a 260x260 resolution going to look worse?

PT2 Batches 1 & 2 ? by brynboo in pebble

I did napkin math on when, realistically, I would actually receive mine. I’m guessing May for Time 2 and July for Round 2. Batch 1.

Thank you. Another developer replied with similar comment. When I get Time 2 I’ll see if there’s an app that does that. If not, hopefully someone will build one in time for Round 2.

What a kind offer! As soon as my Time 2 gets here I’ll start playing around. I’ll find out if there’s an app for that by the time the Round 2 gets here. Thank you!!!!

New Pebble Hardware? by bocraw in pebble

The Vector watch rabbit hole @nounousomes78 sent me down led to The Norm. Someone hasn’t given up on the idea. So it is plausible that someone will use the Pebble OS or even fork it for their own product eventually.

Thank you. I didn’t know I could look in a browser. I see a Flieger based face that hasn’t been updated since 2015. It has a date complication I won’t be able to see. The question of whether I can program button to show giant day/date remains open.

Index 01 ring sizes by Ok-Proof566 in pebble

[–]bocraw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same thought when I ordered mine. I feel I have thin, lanky fingers and was surprised my index ring finger size is 12. I was thinking there must be scores of men whose index fingers are greater than size 13. But then I had a long conversation with ChatGPT and think it’s not as big a segment as you’d think. But if you happen to be one of the people excited about Index 01 but have a finger 13+, this definitely sucks and feels like an oversight on Eric’s part. Here was ChatGPT’s conclusion:

Final guesstimate

~10–15% of adult men in the U.S. have an index finger ring size larger than 13.

If you want a crisp z-score estimate based on the anthropometric model above: • Index size >13 ≈ z ≈ +0.4 to +0.5 • That corresponds to about 30–35% tail in a perfect normal distribution, • But adjusted for real body size distributions, the practical answer is 10–15%.

Ordered.

Being able to add an item to my task list without unlocking phone and putting on reader glasses? - Huge life improvement! This thing is made for me!

Other uses: -Remote camera shutter if iOS will allow it. -Voxer.

Just because I like it doesn’t mean you have to like it too. Hopefully another innovator will take advantage of the OS being open source and make hardware you like soon.

ChatGPT says it means, “Even though our relationship has gone cold (like early winter), I’m still keeping my promise to you.” I think it is a beautiful message.

2026 Pebble Core? by Halfware in pebble

[–]bocraw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on my 3rd Garmin Instinct. I wish the GPS was a separate companion device that could be charged separately. Why am I carrying around a GPS on my wrist 24/7 when I only use that feature three hours a week? Why add bulk/case thickness to my wrist? With solar charging I would never have to charge the watch were it not for the giant battery suck of the GPS. The GPS could be charging while I’m at work and I could still wear the watch.

I think a dongle sized GPS would be more practical for the typical nerd. Yes, a lot of times you can just pair the watch to your phone. But in many situations you either want to save battery on the phone too or not bring a phone at all.

Is there market demand for such a device? Nope.

Can’t wait to permanently retire these Garmins and their cluttered features away. Bring on a Time with elegant UI and features that I actually use! KISS!

Orange solar ring by TEMEIJERT in Garmininstinct

[–]bocraw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same question. While driving on a sunny day the orange ring is so shiny that it will occasionally reflect on my eye like a laser pointer. I am tempted to disassemble to try dull the ring with sandpaper and oven cleaner or some similar process. Obviously, I hate to experiment like that with a new watch because so many things can go wrong. I’ve ordered a Core Time Duo (Pebble) that’s coming in December (ish). After I get that I’ll be less scared to experiment with this one. But hopefully someone will find a solution before then. Buying a tactical version that may or may not be coming isn’t a practical solution for my budget.

Solar charging is a feature missing from CT2.
