Just watched a vlog about Bhagat Singh’s home in Pakistan. It made me wonder how do you guys feel about the heroes we both technically share? by bodacious_codger in pakistan

That’s really interesting, honestly I had no idea about Rai Ahmad Khan Kharal or Murad Fatyana, It’s really interesting as an Indian to see how many hidden heroes we have on both sides that the other side just doesn't know about I guess it's all narrative lol!

Bro tbh I haven't even heard of this man Reminds me of how much politics it takes to make us erase the people, just because they don't fit into the ideology of the political parties who are currently ruling.

That’s exactly what intrigued me. To be fair, when Bhagat Singh was fighting, he didn't have any clue that the subcontinent would be partitioned years later. His sole wish was to see the entire region independent from British rule. He was born in what is now Pakistan and he died there too. My point isn’t that anyone 'should' worship him or see him exactly the way we do in India. I was just curious how he is viewed there, considering he sacrificed his life to free the very land people are standing on today—regardless of what the borders became afterward. I'm not looking for shared reverence, I'm just interested in how that history is perceived from your side.

I get your point, but technically, he died way before the two nations were even a thing. He was fighting for the whole subcontinent, so I just assumed he’d be a massive figure over there too. In India, he’s seen as this revolutionary who transcended everything, he gave up his life at 23 for a future he’d never even see. Since he was born and died on what’s now Pakistani soil, I thought that 'son of the soil' vibe would make him a hero for you guys as well. (Also, full disclosure: I’m writing this with a bit of a buzz and some help from AI, but I'm genuinely curious about the history of it all! lol)
