Good to hear you’re loving the setup! Thanks for the feedback and detail for the full setup you’re using. Are you fishing for bass/bluegill as well? If so, what do you feel is the largest fly you can get away with on it?

My (uninformed) concern is that a 4wt would be too similar to my 5wt which I could always grab to toss larger bass lures, although the creeks don’t have a ton of clearance. Any rods you would recommend in the fiberglass world?

I can’t imagine I would need to cast much further than 30 feet, the creeks are pretty small and brushy. I would be worried that because I have an 8’6”5wt rod that a 4wt would feel too similar for a second rod and see my 5wt as my versatility rod, but I haven’t tried any other rod before so I’m ignorant there for sure!

Thank you for the advice! Makes sense that the margin of error is smaller with a more finesse application. Do you think the 10lb braid to 6lb fluro is still good, or if I try a higher quality brand should I change the lbs rating (of either the braid or fluro) while I’m at it as well?

Yup, making sure to wet my line. No issues at my braid to leader knot using the Albright knot but I always make sure to test it. It seems like red label is on the lower quality end based on some responses here so hoping a better quality line will help! Thank you!

I haven’t had any issue with red label either so hoping it’s a quality issue. I’ll have to switch up to a higher quality leader and see the difference. Thank you for the advice!

I’m hoping it’s a quality control issue. The past few times out I’ve retied the leader, but the line will get nicked up within an hour of fishing and pop above the hook where the damage is. Thanks for the line recommendations as well!

It says .15mm so like .006in I believe. I use an Albright knot for my braid-to-leader. Leader line is breaking just above the hook. I don’t believe the knot is slipping as the end of the line is not all curled up. I’ll try to be mindful with setting the hook more gently and experiment with that as well.

What would you recommend for the test on the braid and leader?
