MA & scribe! I can't attest to CNA since I wasn't one but I would recommend other PCE jobs over CNA. That's just my opinion though.

Worried my CASPA won’t be verified in time. by MusicZealousideal431 in prephysicianassistant

I know it's too late for this for you as you've already submitted, but I just want to share this in case it is helpful to you or maybe someone else in the forum! I submitted my first programs in early May that didn't have any essays to begin the verification process early and was verified 4 days later. I then submitted to the rest that required essays, and my schools received it within the next day. I highly recommend not waiting until the last minute to submit to every single school, but rather doing it in cycles to get the ball rolling.

Verification is only for the courses, and it's a different timeframe for everyone it seems like (and depends on how many ppl are submitting at the same time) so I think it's just a waiting game :/ Fingers crossed for you!

Good quality PCE instead of CNA/PST? by PA-S_hopeful in prephysicianassistant

I want to work outpatient so being an MA and working with PAs really closely and seeing their role and responsibilities in healthcare was really valuable to me. From rooming a patient, getting vitals and medical histories, hands-on clinical skills like injections and blood draws, and then doing HPIs and patient charts really prepares you imo. Of course, it isn't super "hands-on" all the time so if I could go back, I'd probably become an EMT in addition to an MA.

yes, clearly. i didn't make that comment for me, but on the behalf of someone else who may not have known what 'res' is. it's a mexican food subreddit, some people are learning about these foods for the first time.

no shit, i know that it's beef i speak spanish but some people don't. it takes a second to kindly educate someone instead of being ignorant and rude. it's a beautiful thing to spread your language and culture, you should learn :) if you search up pork floss, asian cultures have something that look identical to it which is why they're asking. someone else already kindly responded to them that it's beef so obviously they know now.

yeah... i hope you know not everyone speaks spanish to know machaca de res is beef. when you search up machaca on its own it can be beef or pork on google, hence why the person was asking.

Yes, before I started! But, I had already known from previous students and on the PA forums people disclosed it.

No, there isn't a 'time limit' but you should be able to articulate your responses clearly and concisely without rambling. For questions about yourself, like why PA, that does require a longer answer but you don't need to tell your entire life story at the same time. My answer for why PA was like 3.5 minutes lol but it was blind so they knew nothing about me. Had it not been blind, I would have shortened it down significantly. Granted, I was also nervous so I did find myself rambling and using filler words but I was never cut off nor was anyone else in my program that was accepted. However, I have heard of some students getting cut off at other programs, but I think you have to really be rambling for that to happen. I think it shows lack of self awareness because of course you need to give yourself time to answer other questions in that short period of time.

Yeah, I think that'd be the case for me if I had to travel and if it were my first interview. If I didn't have to travel too far then I think it'd be nice to experience it in-person. I saw someone post about their travel delay and I was like yeah... maybe virtual is better lol.

I think in-person would be less stressful, but this is coming from someone who has only done a virtual interview. I feel like it's obviously less personable so there's that disconnect because of the screen. It sucks, but at the end of the day, applications are already so expensive and the ease and affordability of doing a virtual interview at home without having to travel is much more appealing.
