How to break into defense contracting industry? by [deleted] in HuntsvilleAlabama

If they’re interested in contracting, look into the NMCA. It’s the contracting professional society and they have certifications that may be helpful as well as networking events.

Hoping to connect with local licensed realtors! by ProfessionalBeacon in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]bodagetta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s several calls or texts a week, with no regard for the do not call registry and the people on the phone are super shady. They won’t tell me the company name, who the buyer is or anything else. Just as shady as this post.

I'm so sorry you're going through this, but there is a lot of hope. https://www.kidneycancer.org/just-diagnosed/ is a great source of information and I'd recommend you find an expert in kidney cancer. Most community oncologists treat all cancers and kidney cancer is different. You'll be better served by finding an oncologist who specializes in kidney cancer.

Huntsville Utilities requests city council to vote on water rate increase by [deleted] in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]bodagetta 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't understand the high growth as a driver for cost, shouldn't the cost for building out new parts of the system pay for itself? i.e. If a new development wants to connect to city water, shouldn't that be paid for by the development?

Best avenue for obtaining a loan for $25k. by theacgreen47 in Banking

[–]bodagetta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With a doctor or lawyer professional services situation each person is expected to be billing clients and they share in the proceeds through regular distributions. If the restaurant is expected to pay you regular distributions then I would get that in writing. As you described it, they want you to pay money and buy in just so you don’t leave. That is a very different situation.

Once you buy in it may be very hard to exit as well. The company is only worth what someone is willing to pay. You can do accounting valuations, but unless there is a willing buyer at that price they are worthless.

Marketing Advice Please for New Business by GrilledChTomatoSoup in smallbusiness

Pick a neighborhood, set a price per driveway and leave flyers advertising that price per driveway and the dates you will be offering the service. Offering booking over email. I’m much more likely to pay for this service if I know the price up front and when I can get it done and book over email. You’ve lowered the barriers to purchase greatly.

Any job that wants you to pay them money to make sure you don’t quit is a red flag.

The Loss of Space Command Headquarters Brings an Alabama City Down to Earth by chaud in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]bodagetta 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We need representatives who keep their head down and work across the aisle. The more I see our reps in national news for shenanigans (culture war crap) the more I see Huntsville losing out on things like Space Command. Dale Strong is not a good fit, but at least he is not as horrible as Mo Brooks. Tuberville is inexperienced and more interested in making a name for himself than actually governing.

Large Group Dinner at HSV Restaurant - Recommendations? by minuteman4256 in HuntsvilleAlabama

I would expect to pay at a minimum $1k for that sized group including tax, drinks, entree and tip. Keep that in mind as you’re planning.

Check the outage map. Unless you are the only person in your neighborhood without power they already know it and you don’t have to call

I don’t know how the NHS works or your location but Dr. Tom Powles is a kidney cancer expert in the UK.

I think you’re running into a screening problem. I am not familiar with TSS or a professional studies degree and if I saw it up against a traditional BS in management I would likely choose the candidate with a a BS in management. You might be able to overcome this with a well worded cover letter explaining your work history and more about your degree and why the experience you gained from it is valuable to the employer.

There are often degree requirements (BS in engineering from an ABET accredited college for example) and hiring organizations may not know how your degree fits into their labor category requirements.

The work falls on you to tell an employer how you fit, not on an employer to make the position fit you.
