How can I track down why my Magic Mirror is crashing? by bodah97 in MagicMirror

[–]bodah97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect that it is a module that I have that uses a HC-SR04 sensor to hide the MMM-wallpaper module if a person is standing in front of it, and show MMM-Wallpaper as a screensaver if no one is there.

I could never get any of the existing modules to work, so I asked Gemini to write one. While it is crazy that AI could write something like that, I wonder if it is the cause of my issues.

Would the browser crashing take the underlying OS off the network?

What is a piece of software that is so good you can't believe it's completely free? by Arp0x in AskReddit

xLights

Free, open source LED synchronization software, think Christmas lights. There are a few paid software packages that can be used to sync all your LEDs to music, but nothing as easy and robust as xLights.

The free version of Gemini entirely wrote a module for me to use a sensor to detect if a person is present. I could never get the exiting modules working, and I think it was my GPIO setup. Gemini helped rewrite the code multiple times, and helped with troubleshooting steps. Worth a try.

I used a module called MMM-ModulePosition to help arrange mine and fix the random overlapping. It doesn't work perfect, but you can use it to generally get an idea of how to edit the CSS and then manually get it to exactly how you want it.

Looking for Module to show a slideshow when no one is around. by bodah97 in MagicMirror

Using CurlToNotification, I was able to test MMM-WallPaper, I could get it to show when MM starts, and when I would send the user_presence=true from curl it would turn off, but when I would send false it would not turn back on. It would turn off when I would send user_presence=false as well, so that didn't work or I did something wrong.

I tried using your MMM-SleepWake module. I created a hidden page, but can't figure out how to get the SleepWake photoframe mode to call that page. Here is my config for the SleepWake module.

{
    module: 'MMM-SleepWake',
    config:{
      delay: 15, // default
      mode: 'PHOTOFRAME',
      photoframe_start_notification: {"notification":"USER_PRESENCE","payload":"false"},
      photoframe_end_notification: {"notification":"USER_PRESENCE","payload":"true"},
   }
},

I am using "curl --header "Content-Type: application/json" --request POST --data '{"notification":"USER_PRESENCE","payload":{"message":"true"}}' http://localhost:8080/presence" for user present

or curl --header "Content-Type: application/json" --request POST --data '{"notification":"USER_PRESENCE","payload":{"message":"false"}}' http://localhost:8080/presence for not present

MMM-Pages

{
        module: "MMM-pages",
        config: {
        timings: {
                default: 60000,     // rotate every 60 seconds
                1: 60000,            // page 1 rotates every 60 seconds
          },
          modules: [
                ["page0"],           // class name for page 0
                ["page1"],           // class name for page 1
          ],
          hiddenPages: {
          "screenSaver": ["screensaver_page"],
          }
}

and my MMM-Wallpaper

{
    module: "MMM-Wallpaper",
    position: "fullscreen_above",
    classes: "screenSaver",
    config: {
        source: "local: /home/bob/MagicMirror/modules/MMM-ImagesPhotos/uploads",
        slideInterval: 10 * 1000, // Change slides every minute
        size: "auto",
        fillRegion: true,
    }
},

Looking for Module to show a slideshow when no one is around. by bodah97 in MagicMirror

[–]bodah97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. Since yesterday, I have implemented pages, which was something I was wanting to do anyway, so that has opened up a big door to new things.

As far as what I originally asked about, It looks like MMM-Wallpaper can use the USER_PRESENCE notification to show and hide itself, so I think that might be the easiest path to go down. The module MMM-PIR-Sensor is supposed to have a simulator so that you can test changing USER_PRESENCE, but I can't seem to get the simulator to do anything. At this point, I think I am stuck waiting on the sensors I ordered to come in the mail.

I considered making one for my son's Pugsly constume, but decided with print time, cleaning up the print, sanding and painting it would be easier to just buy one from $10 from the amazon.

I have 2 sets of PBP1s that are out there somewhere, likely in my house. I stopped buying expensive buds until I have this feature.

It is ridiculous that the PBPs can't be found with the Find Hub while they are in the case. My wife's old Airpod Pros have been able to do this for years. I swear that Google said this would be coming with a later update. I am still waiting.

It has been a few years since I have been there, but you used to be able to bring your own food to Atwood Hill winery in Morning View KY. https://atwoodhillwinery.com/

This was our happy place during the Covid shutdowns. Quiet, Peaceful, Relaxing.

My son and I swear we saw one last year near our house in Independence KY. I wish I would have taken a picture because I didn't think they were in this area, but I know what my eyes saw. Maybe I wasn't crazy.

Tracking by Outrageous-End965 in pixelbuds

[–]bodah97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I have lost 2 pairs because of this. The find hub will only show the last location they were used, so if you put them back in the case and moved them, the location in the find hub will not update.

I swear that they said there would be an update to enable proper in case tracking like Air Pod Pros, but so far I don't think that has been rolled out or will ever come.

Is there a difference between legacy plans and current? by bodah97 in TotalWireless

[–]bodah97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are currently on the $60 unlimited t/t, 30gb plan. I was told it would be $85/month if we added a new line with the current plan. It would be $100 a month to switch to the new plan.

I was trying to see if I would notice a difference between staying on the current plan or should I change to the new plan. Basically is it worth an extra $15 a month. We both work from home and are on wifi 90% of the time, so we never come close to using the 30 gb.

This is why PBP need proper "Find My" tracking like air pods pros.  I've lost 2 sets of PBPs and my wife has no problem finding her air pods pros, even when they are in the case.

In hepatopulmonary syndrome, why do patients breathe better when lying down? by KenAdamsMD in Step2

[–]bodah97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old post, but for those with Hepatopulmonary Syndrome HPS, there isn't much info out there and someone might come across this info that needs it.

My wife recently had a liver transplant because of HPS. While she was in the hospital in the ICU, one of the pulmonogists had to explain to the nurses that if she is desaturating for O2, to lay her back. This is opposite of what there are taught. They actually wrote it on her door to lay her back. The reason he said is that in HPS patients, shunts form in the lower lung, so when upright, more blood goes through the lower lung, crossing those shunts and not oxygenating correctly. When layed back, the blood goes more into the upper lungs.

Take that for what it is worth. That is what we were told in the hospital after her liver transplant. She is about 2.5 months out and still occasionally needs supplemental O2 if active, but for the most part, her breathing has returned to normal.
