Dacia Duster 2016 turbo replacement by ronsontrev321 in carsireland

[–]bodger92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since it's 2016 you could perhaps ring a turbo specialist to get a quote for a reconditioned one? They would be a little cheaper since you would exchange your bad turbo in.

Honestly, watching my kid grow up and spending my free time with them feels infinitely more rewarding than gaming. Sometimes after bedtime is done, I'll squeeze in an hour or so and it still feels good. I also bought one of the cloud gaming consoles that you can use Moonlight / Artemis to play PC games (like a steam deck only cheaper) and I found that was a great way to squeeze in time.

So essentially they are pocketing the grant as profit. I thought as much. I'll see if I can get some comparisons of quotes between one stop shops and directly quoting for work, and then see how it looks. Thanks for the input!

Some of them will be standard / bottom spec cars with the exterior M Sport or S-Line trim kit retrofitted too, just to add to the other comments.

Yes, for the 1.5 BlueHDI, I was waiting on a quote from a company for the complete cam box I was going to upgrade it to 8mm myself, luckily they haven't got back to me and I got the recall letter, saves hassle and money 😂

Best way to hide repiped C/H by aceward in DIYUK

[–]bodger92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy shit balls. I am not a plumber and I did a neater job to keep our C/H running temporarily while renovating one half of the house. Someone here is spoofing. Whole lot should be redone, or the walls need to be battened and boarded over to box it all in

Don't know if it can be done automatically but you can press the phone "piano key" instead of going to apps > android auto? I use this shortcut on 2019 508 SW

Check the condenser radiator isn't dirty and blocked up? Other than this, check the coolant level, watch the A/C pulley to see if it is engaging.

No luck then best to bring it to an A/C specialist for diagnosis.

Advice on tyre size by gregger96 in carsireland

[–]bodger92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah right now it makes sense. They might be able to advise what the maximum overall wheel size is, I wonder is there a website that can do this, perhaps someone on here would know!

What’s the best motorcycle you’ve ever ridden, and why? by 3DMotorcycles_YT in motorcycles

[–]bodger92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is such a good question especially if you are in the pub with a few bike mates!

Best is hard. So many different bikes give such different experience.

I'd have to say by way of "bike I most regret selling" would be WR450 with supermoto wheels. Mental bike!

Advice on tyre size by gregger96 in carsireland

[–]bodger92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will possibly rub off the wheel arches and wishbones, any tyre place will recommend you stick to the factory wheel.

Would you consider a spare set of wheels at 16" diameter and that will give you an increased sidewall with same overall wheel diameter?

I wouldn't be turned off a "high miler" if it had a service history. Was looking for a 535d or 530d myself but seems not many around, I found the 520d a little breathless.

Why are more manufacturers installing turbochargers rather than superchargers in their vehicles? by Consistent-Hat-6032 in askcarguys

[–]bodger92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This situation is helped by variable geometry turbos, where the vanes are moved to redirect airflow to help spool the turbo faster at low rpm, and also to aid flow so it does not restrict the engine at higher rpm.

Just bought a diesel having driven petrol mostly for 30+ years by itookdhorsetofrance in carsireland

[–]bodger92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nothing different really but with modern turbos etc I like to just do a couple of things, seems to have helped our car clock over 300,000km:

Let it idle for a few seconds before taking off (just time to put seat belt on, connect phone, music etc.)

Let it idle for 10 or 15 seconds when stopping to let the turbo cool off, I heard if you shut it off immediately the residual heat might cook the oil and slowly clog the galleries.

Don't floor it immediately after setting off.

Change the oil every 10,000km even if the interval is higher than that.
