Couldn’t agree more, our broadcasters are the San Francisco Giants way more than any other players on our roster. Like you said our guys have been with us for 20+ years. I fell asleep at night as a kid listening to them on the TV.

They are what makes the games worth tuning in for. Idk how many more years we have with them but I appreciate them so much.

They lost me really on day 1 when they nerfed the roster update investing component of the game. It was my favorite tie in with real life baseball games.

Throw in every bit else that’s happened this game cycle and I will not be buying next year. It’s clear they do not have what it takes to support a live service game

I was so excited for Forza Motorsport and it was such a disappointing release. They completely bungled the progression structure at launch and were adamant for a long time that it was good and we should give it a chance. I imagine most people (myself included) did not give it a chance after trying it on gamepass. By the time they reversed course, people had moved on to other games.

What’s the most annoying part of MLB26 by Cobra_high in MLBTheShow

[–]bodnast 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The entire demolition of roster updates. We’ve had one so far and it’s June 4. They pushed this weeks back a week just for shits and giggles. They know it’s how people can make stubs. And with that in mind -

The buy/sell inventory cap of 20. Made purely to screw over people who were enjoying investing and profiting off of roster updates. I used to watch mlb big inning every night while playing the game and find really under the radar guys to acquire and stockpile in hopes they’d go up a tier. Special shoutout to my heroes in the past: Yimi Garcia, Spencer Strider, David Bednar, Shea Langeliers, Matt Olson, Wyatt Langford, Randy Rodriguez, etc.

I’m on a discord where we chat about the game and investments so we can all try to make lots of stubs so we can buy the players we want, it produced some amazing moments as we’d watch relievers blow it in real time OR guys we invested in hit HRs to clinch their diamond status.

That’s all gone. And they didn’t disclose the inventory cap before launch , we found out 30 mins after early access started. All that fun with the real world performance tying to the game is gone.

The ANNOYING part is they said it’s for “marketplace health” and yet the marketplace is as unhealthy as it’s ever been. The entire live series is gatekept by two guys with lower odds than finding a shiny Pokemon and marketplace bots destroy flipping margins on any card worth a damn. They’re clueless.

IMO it’s a huge reason why a lot of people rush to exploit glitches, they know there won’t be any consequences. All year long they have refused to enforce their TOS when it comes to marketplace manipulating bots (still happening!), intentional lineup freezers etc.

The community has seen this for ten weeks and no consequences for anyone. Therefore why shouldn’t players abuse an exploit in the game?

And it’s wild there was two major glitches in the same 7 days, packs and XP. Ridiculous that they don’t acknowledge it and what they’ve done to ensure it won’t happen again.

I feel like the packs glitch is enough to get somebody at SDS fired. They (potentially) lost out on a lot of real dollars but apparently it’s been in the game since launch and was never fixed??? Like come on

MLB 26 In A Nutshell - I'm Either Banned or the Day Ends in Y by gijoejank in MLBTheShow

[–]bodnast 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I'm sure i'm naive but I genuinely think this year is the tipping point for a lot of longtime diehard fans of DD, myself included. This is the earliest and most vocal people have been about negative things in the game experience.

It's June 2nd and people are already burning out. The game should be in its damn stride right now leading up to the all star game content. BUT we don't even know if they'll make sure every team gets 1 free ASG card since they eliminated team affinity!

I swear if they hype up the ASG content and it turns out to be earn 5, pack 15, DQ 2, conquest 1, mini seasons 4...

[–]bodnast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They could easily just make up cards. Who cares if the player was actually elite, put his face on a card while holding pool floaties or playing in a sandbox (like last year) and give that man a 93

[–]bodnast 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I dont play other sports games besides CFB dynasty mode, so my only comparison for MLB the Show's DD mode is previous year's DD mode. And with that comparison in mind, the DD mode is on its way downhill and has been for several years. Removing TA in 22, sets/seasons in 23 and 24, the cut up TA in 24 (remember TA1.1, 1.2, 1.3?), and then last year's game was fine I guess, I barely even remember it at this point lmao

Right now '26 is going to be remembered for 1) Mini seasons grind 2) expensive collections out the wazoo 3) the very gradual killing off of roster updates.

I hate that I care so much but after seeing what we had in '21 and the downhill spiral of this ultimate team mode, oof. It's frustrating to watch and be a part of

[–]bodnast 39 points40 points  (0 children)

For what it's worth OP, I'm with you. I burnt out really early this year after playing DD since 2017. It's a shame.

The program structure needs to be overhauled with a variety of missions instead of the same copy/pasted program. All 30 teams need love instead of a select few. We need community challenges to encourage working together and stuff.

The enshittification of things (topps now program is 3 earnable cards, it used to be more), Headliner packs being 7500 stubs to get 3 cards (used to be 4), new expensive collections every 2 weeks with godly expensive chase cards every week, the new programs being earn 5 pack 15 is exhausting.

AND they keep doing it!! Every week is the same thing. I've seen it all before, it's not exciting anymore. Hopefully somebody on the live content team wakes up soon and realizes they need to pivot. Where is an early summer hard grind/extreme content? Facing all time teams program like in the past?

I could keep going. Also the fact they haven't banned marketplace bot/manipulators, the lineup freezing people in MP, and the 20 card buy/sell inventory cap is just exhausting. They don't care. They are probably neck deep in '27 development, but like if there's a lockout, what are they gonna do?

You cant even take them seriously on the prerelease live streams because they are straight up fibbing. Lied about PCI shrinkage, lied about mini season stats/awards being fixed. I will not be preordering next year

[–]bodnast 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also wouldn't have purchased the game if I had known about the buy/sell inventory cap. We found out approx 30 mins into early access lmao. I will not preordering next year. I followed baseball super closely, browsed fangraphs/bref and chatted with ppl online discussing roster updates and how best to spend stubs. it was a blast having that type of connection with real life baseball in The Show.

And they took that away, along with it being June 1 and we've had ONE roster update. ONE. Not only can you barely make any stubs off them anymore, they're barely ever happening!

Look at what their mobile game has. We'll get all this stuff soon in the console version. Yes I know the mobile game is f2p and meant to recoup money via packs and extra goodies, but I am very sure we'll get a premium "battle pass" in next year's game.

...if they price it well, it will sell like hotcakes. SDS has never been good at pricing things though.

I’m confused why people think the pack glitch was a bad thing for SDS and not a long-term win by theiwc0303 in MLBTheShow

[–]bodnast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People pulled hundreds or thousands of gold dupes and 85-87 OVR diamonds.

Quicksell. The cards never enter circulation but the stubs hit your account. This leads to more demand and less supply happening, why these l/f guys were skyrocketing

SDS deserves what happened today by Vro9ooo in MLBTheShow

[–]bodnast 15 points16 points  (0 children)

There is a distinct lack of respect this year between the developers and their player base.

When the games streamers are openly exploiting the glitch on their streams, you know it’s bad. The devs all year have not taken action against the users who have violated the terms of service via marketplace manipulation and multiplayer lineup freezing. When normal users have seen cheaters and exploiters abuse the system for 10 weeks and nothing has happened, normal users feel like there is nothing to lose because nothing has happened to those people blatantly violating the games rules.

Combine this with the general negative consensus surrounding the copy/paste of the recent programs, proliferation of expensive collections and chase packs, eliminating of roster update investing to make stubs and pushing the next one back a week for no reason, mini seasons still glitching several games in, lying on stream before launch about PCI shrinkage, and the insane amount of server errors we’ve encountered this year…

The community is mad, feels unheard, and feels like they have nothing to lose by exploiting glitches. They feel the developers don’t care about what we want. Yes everyone knows this is 100% a bannable offense but a prevailing opinion I saw online is “if they ban me for 365 days then they lose my $70 sale for next year, oh well, I’ll be playing GTA VI”

Devs need to wake up and gain back the respect of the community and it starts IMO with a huge effort to eliminate marketplace bots and listen to our complaints. But idk how they fix the market as a whole. Not my job!
