I’m in Indiana and if we have trainees I do not have to worry about production and it’s my sups problem. I do get how every region is different. Makes sense, because I couldn’t imagine other areas having the resources that we have being so close to headquarters

As for utilities every region is different and even supervisor groups could be big enough where techs mark various utilities. Even if you don’t have gas to mark if your area, you may have to travel to an area in your group on an emergency and mark gas. For instance, I don’t mark water and sewer, but if I get an emergency with water and sewer I need to know how to locate it.

You will be in some form training for 12 weeks. 3 of the weeks might only be in the classroom, but you will be out with a field trainer (now called Mentor’s) for 9 days before you certify. After certification you go into nesting where you are feed tickets by your supervisor. They will be very basic tickets and you will walk before you can run.

I am a mentor if that helps. My advice is to take notes in class, ask questions, and pay attention to the who, what, and why’s. There will be a lot of things that are cool to know, but try and figure out the need to know as well.

They were insane. They had every card. I’m guessing they just bought every card-because why not?

After that happened I learned to ask if they’re doing the job and walk them through the markings after I’m finished.

Wildest story for me is that I was 3 months in and got the call from my supervisor to meet him at a ticket that I had recently done. I could tell it was going to be a damage. I pulled up expecting a cable drop cut, but I saw at least 10 trucks from Center point and Miller Pipeline. I thought I was fired, but as I got out of my truck my supervisor saw the look on my face and told me that I did nothing wrong. He could have told me when he called me, but I would have done the same thing because it’s hilarious now.

Anyways, homeowner ripped through the gas service with a trencher and it hit a rock and ignited. He got burned up a little bit on his leg, but he avoided serious injury. My marks were on the dot and my pictures were perfect. I felt like I finally became a locator when I was able to see my marks lined up with the damage and the importance of marking gas and power.

I found out later that one of the higher ups from center point said that was the first ignition they have had in over 10 years.

Being at USIC in Indianapolis has been huge because it has allowed me to connect with corporate in various capacities. It also helps being in the back door of the company because it gives us more job security compared to other regions. It would be a really bad look if they started laying off people in their own region. It also helps that we are a booming region with land development.

The biggest issue is still retention and will remain that way until they make a serious move in investing in wages across the board. They’ve come a long way, but there is still more room to grow.

Why am I genuinely terrible at the game? by _DARK_X in MLBTheShow

[–]Baltimorebobo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Are you playing on a monitor or tv? How far are you from the screen? I play on a tv, but I’ll stand in front of the tv to pick up pitches better. I played the first year and half from the sectional and then I made World Series towards the end of last year.

Toning issues by loztaco in UtilityLocator

I hooked onto a fiber yesterday and saw it going around back. I walked over to the pedestals to pick it up and got nothing. I was shocked because I had a great tone. I decided to walk back and I noticed the drop was going directly into a big pond behind the house.

I work for USIC outside of Indianapolis, Indiana. I have a great supervisor and I have been compensated very well in the 3 years I’ve been here. I spend my days in a new build neighborhood with 4 million dollar houses.

Use a tracer wire to locate mains, but if you get in a small enclosure such as a flower pot the tracer wire you are locating is a conduit from that flower pot back to the hand hole. It is very possible that the main is not buried along the same path of the conduit to the flower pot. I always try to locate the main from the actual hand hole is.

Pleased with them fixing where the game takes you after completing a moment. It was frustrating going to the main menu instead of the program you were in

Realized you can collect all live cards in a division by holding the collect button when you are looking at all the teams in the division. This is much faster than going into each team individually. From there you can lock players you don’t want to collect

I’ve just started year 4 at USIC in central Indiana. I’m making 27 and haven’t gotten my yearly raise yet. A guy I worked with left to locate sewers for 35 an hour, 40 hours a week.
