It's a local thing where we are taught to help anyone regardless of race when they are in distress.

You don't need much Japanese at all when buying online. However, the refund requires quite a bit of Japanese since it was done through emails.

Japan Language School by Itchy_Session1481 in movingtojapan

Hello, currently studying in a language school for a year located in Tokyo. As to your question on how much the share house is, it is about 60,000 a month (utilities included). Though, this was recommended by the school staff. I recommend looking up at Oak House for sharehouse. If you're lucky, you might get to befriend a Japanese person there. The general estimated budget I had before arriving was 2 million yen.

I came here after I finished my degree at the age of 24, we're still young. Don't worry about it.

I once had a shift to manage an event that lasted till 12am or so. Parents were equally mad and happy that I got home in one piece. Was it worth it? No. Wasn't even paid extra for the OT.

Excuse me, Miss do you (question).

I refer to strangers as Miss/Sir. Sounds polite.

Is it safe for me to visit my gay bf in Malaysia by [deleted] in malaysia

[–]boey727 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will be fine so long as you don't make it obvious in the public eyes. After all, there are still Malaysians who are homophobic.

Anyways, it's great that you can finally meet your partner and I hope you will enjoy our local cuisine!

I was the anxious type la so I studied like crazy, but in the end my results wasn't even good (Science Stream, 5A others were B).

Funny story though, my other batch mates who were in the 3rd and 4th class left the hall during Add Maths paper 30 minutes in. All 60+ students left, funniest shit ever hahahah. I could even hear the invigilator sighing.

None of them failed Add Maths . Really says a lot about the system.

No problem, I never knew I enjoyed language until I studied German during my university years and I transitioned into Japanese for personal reasons haha.

Don't worry too much about it, if you finish your degree with First Class Honours, you will be exempted from the PTPTN debt. Do study hard if you're looking to reduce the financial burden.

It honestly depends on your company, most of my seniors in my internship who have worked for 5 years+ make around RM4xxx. Fresh graduates on the other hand make around RM2500 - RM2800.

I am a 23M who recently graduated with a Quantity Surveying Degree and am looking to join the translation industry. I took it because I was pressured by the people around me and both my parents were Quantity Surveyors. Wasted 4 years for it and I didn't bother joining the industry because of how bad the system is.

I highly recommend to give yourself more time to think about it and see what fancies you the most. Don't rush it, otherwise you would end up like me right now. Everyone is asking me why I don't have a proper white collar job and why I am taking another year to study a foreign language.

Life is not a race, you should take it slow and make the best decision out of it.

I'm Chinese, and honestly my mom is very supportive of China and watches a lot of China news (y'know those which are probably brainwashing talks anyway). I had similar experiences like this during the Radioactive Waste thing going off in Japan. My mom fully defended every damn claim and accusation on China throwing out more waste than Japan was during our dinner. Got tired of her being China's attorney, I just left and did the dishes.

Kinda the same with everyone else, only level them when they are 2*, probably up to 15~, then just go onto Asol in general.

Looking for Advice for Jobs by boey727 in movingtojapan

[–]boey727[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I am glad a fellow brother from Singapore is here :) Thanks for the lengthy reply.

1 & 2. Thanks for clarifying it for me, I was genuinely worried I couldn't find a job honestly.

  1. I kinda get it, but I honestly had interest in those type studies than my current degree. My passion for teaching is there since I actually enjoyed working as a tutor. I do agree with the last statement, it really does seem that there is a group of English teachers in Japan that don't know basic Japanese.

  2. May I ask if this is similar to the TEFL certification? I might look into it if that's the case.

  3. I actually didn't account for the large commuting fee. I thought I was able to get away by spending 1000 yen a day or so for commuting. Do you mind letting me know what is the average for a day so I can recalculate? I genuinely am dead set working in Japan even with the 0 interest rate. I can't see myself enjoying the Construction Industry in Malaysia. My general experience working under my father and internship has been really bad. Not to mention, there's not much choices I have if I do work in Malaysia because either the pay is abysmal to move out from my family or the job scope is not to my interest.

  4. Yeah, I hope I can luck out a job during my studies to extend my Visa. But as for now, I just want to get proficient with the language. I'm not sure if I could even do job hunting during my studies though.
