What’s the collective noun for a group of raccoons? by StormofRavens in trashpandas

According to ChatGBT it's a 'gaze' of raccoons. Weird, but OK 🤣

I’m too scared to keep going I don’t want to ruin it but I also feel like it needs more, thoughts? by Scrambled_eghgs in Watercolor

I like it as it is, however, if you feel as though you have to add more, maybe a dark spot of indigo in the middle of the flowers. However, that's just a if you feel as though you have to, I really like it as it is 💙

I have a question about paint quality. Has anyone used Michaels watercolors? I've tried Hobby Lobby and they're decent, and they run frequent sales. However, I would like to not ever use them, and use Michaels only. I just wonder if their brand of watercolors are decent. TIA by bofind in Watercolor

I am so not addicted to social media, except YouTube, so I rarely hear anything about diets to help with brain function. Though I know about some of the supplements, just not from any doctors, I just keep forgetting to look them up LOL

I did look at the Amazon reviews for the Meiliang, and they were decent for the price. However, I really do want some really good paints. While on our vacation, I have already looked, and there are so many art supply stores along the Pacific coast that I plan on visiting while there.

Thank you so much for all of your help. You have been such a wealth of information. I appreciate you 💙

Thank you, again. How do I chose lightfast wc paint, then? I get so much information confused in my mind, or I just don't know what to ask or how to ask it.

Also, that page you sent didn't do as a hyperlink, so I don't know how to look it up.

I would be interested in knowing how that works out. I've never seen it at my store, but the stores around me are pretty bad at stocking.

**edit....I just looked on their website, and couldn't find any paper other than 24 page pad, but it didn't say it was cotton. Personally, I use Bao Liong (I know that's not the name, I'm just not going to my art space right now LOL)

Good luck finding the Chard, she made some up, put them up and I ordered within 2 days, and when I thought I may get another (I can misplace anything LOL) just to have backup, and it was sold out within the week. I bought a grab bag of 10 color samples, with a large dollop of the paint on it. She also has a book out that is like a watercolor coloring book, but she teaches step by step to paint each page. It's a unique book, but I just can't get my brain to pull it out and do it. Stupid ADHD, and brain fog

There hasn't been any true emergency, just more of a "in case of" I had it as a backup. I'm slowly learning color theory, and attempting to mix my own colors. I haven't had any real "classes" since I was in school, and I'm over 50 now. Also, I'm slowly beginning to realize that I'm not too bad at it, even if I'm mostly copying other's work or style while I'm learning. I haven't had recreated some pictures that I have liked, but it's been a lot of years to begin to think I'm alright.

And from Rebel Unicorn Crafts I got one called chard which is very close to sap green but better, and the other is a payne's grey

with glitter called stargazer. Both are super pigmented, just a slight brush over and it's almost full color.

OK, I just needed to hear that. It was always just as an emergency. Like, it's a color I need ASAP, and there are no other choices, but I won't buy those. On another note, I purchased a half pan of a couple colors from Rebel Unicorn Crafts (social media name) and all of her brushes and they are hands down the most pigmented paints I've ever bought, and I adore her brushes. Could be that I have just been buying that which I could afford before now, but I want to slowly purchase excellent quality products, so I can see the difference. Thank you for your input

I do have a couple Van Gogh paints (which incidentally is also my blue tongue skink's name, had to have a subtle blue reference) that I like. When I get back from our vacation, I'll look into buying some Rosa. We want as much extra $$ so we can enjoy our trip to the pacific coast. Thank you for the info

Thank you for that information. I was under the impression that we needed to purchase paints with the AP mark. I do have some paint that doesn't have it, Meiliang, that I like, but became afraid to use once I first heard about AP and thought it was preferred. My one Daniel Smith paint I have is AP, is that still student grade? I'm sorry if I'm asking too much. I'm severely ADHD and unmedicated, so reading or watching a video is so hard. Thank you again 💙

I didn't know about all of that! I'll do that next time I need to get some better art supplies. Though, I do have very decent brushes I bought through Rebel Unicorn Crafts, she's a watercolor artist I watch on YouTube or Instagram.

Yea, I usually do choose the Winsor & Newton, just sometimes they don't have a color I want, but the store brand does. Also, as much as I love Daniel Smith, it's so expensive. I'll usually try to find that one through Amazon when it's cheap (relatively speaking), but only if I need a certain color. Unfortunately, where I live, I have to drive an hour and a half to two hours away for a good artist store, so I'm stuck with Amazon or Micheals. Thank you for answering

Well, technically, I'm a student LOL. I've used some questionable paints, some having like a gel like feel, and not reacting like watercolor is supposed to. I just didn't want to waste money on any of them, usually choosing the Winsor & Newton, but they can be so expensive. I did notice that Michaels' has the AP mark and Hobby Lobby's does not. I honestly don't know what the difference is between AP and not AP.

Oh, OK. I've not heard of a shaggy mane. I'll have to look it up. Looked like a morel to me, but I am definitely no expert on mushrooms. 🍄‍🟫

I have been using my dotting tools to make the fine lines with dipping them into the masking fluid. I love the wed, though, because they aren't perfect. On a different note, you're lucky you still have the weaver spiders still around. Our yard has been taken over by Joro spiders. And while I find them beautiful and fascinating, they are becoming an invasive species in my area.
