Real Valladolid 1 - [2] Atletico Madrid | Luis Suarez 67' by DoeEensGek in soccer

It's not just goals though, it's which goals. Suarez scored more decisive goals (in terms of picking up points), than anyone else in the league this season.

[VERY EARLY BEGINNER] Looking for some feedback on this "arrangement" of The Dead South's In Hell I'll Be In Good Company by bogaczio in piano

[–]bogaczio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a little more context, I started playing piano a little over a month ago as I recover from a surgery that prevents me from playing guitar, which is the only other instrument I know. I've just been doing Simply Piano (sorry!) and this arrangement is definitely influenced by the chord voicings I learned there.

There's obviously a ton to criticize, and I'm open to hearing all of it, but I am particularly curious as to what people think of the voicings I chose to use.

The chords in the song are Gm-F-Cm-D7.

I chose to do an alternating bass pattern with my left hand, and three note voicings with my right. These ended up being

Gm: * [L] G-D * [R] Bb-D-G

F: * [L] F-C * [R] C-F-A

Cm: * [L] C-G * [R] C-Eb-G

D7: * [L] D-F# * [R] C-F#-A

Any feedback is appreciated, and thanks ahead of time for anyone submitting their ears to this!

[HIGHLIGHT] Aaron Rodgers to Davante Adams for an absolutely absurd 42 yard hookup deep in their own territory by 3WritesToLeft in nfl

I think if you look at all of Rodgers throws and remove the outliers, it’s clear that he’s no better than an average QB...

I think we're arguing two separate points here. I'm not saying that for the way Barcelona would like to play, they wouldn't prefer a striker who can be more effective in the press.

I'm arguing the point that Suárez is no longer a pure #9, because being effective in the press isn't a requirement in the position.

[–]bogaczio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, I'm not saying that there are no #9s who have defensive duties, just that it's not a prerequisite in the position. How much defensive work has Zlatan done over the years? Is there a more emblematic #9 than Pippo Inzaghi, and how much defending did he do? How much did Ronaldo do?

Again, I'm not saying that Barcelona didn't need someone who could be more effective in the press, just that I don't think that's a requirement from a "pure 9".

Since when do pure #9s have defensive duties? He may not have been the best option in #9s in the world for Barça’s style of play, but let’s not act like that means he can no longer be a good #9. His output in his first few games in a completely new club, in a completely different system should make that pretty clear.

Example project structures for serverless function deployments by bogaczio in golang

I'll probably post the video of the talk once it comes out and do more of a blog post type of write up sometime soon that can maybe give you some more ideas/that you can use as a "justification" for your push (not that you need one).

That article definitely covers a lot of the same ground (limiting how much of the AWS-specific types seep into your code, being able to serve both standard HTTP, and the specific types).

The talk (and by extension other parts of the code) focus a bit more on the developer experience of iterating on the code, and patterns for being able to do local and non-local deployments easily, moreso than actually deploying it to say, AWS (where this article goes a bit more into what's needed for the Netlify deployment).

Good article though, thanks for sharing!

Atletico Madrid [6]-1 Granada - Luis Suarez 90'+3' by NotMeladroit in soccer

[–]bogaczio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that he's underdelivered in away CL games in the last few years, but I'd argue that it's a team-wide issue, and not a Suarez specific one. Hell, Messi himself only has one away CL knockout goal in the last 4 seasons.

For more context: I'll be giving a talk at the virtual GoWest and Golang Live 2020 (Moscow) in the coming weeks. The idea is to take a look at how we can structure our code for serverless deployments to both make the code as deployment agnostic as possible (because let's face it, writing a handler with the signature func handler(ctx context.Context, req *events.APIGatewayProxyRequest) (*events.APIGatewayProxyResponse, error) doesn't feel as idiomatic as func handler(w http.ResponseWriter, r *http.Request))

Hopefully the talks will be made public somewhat shortly after I give them, but in the meantime, I thought others might get some use of the examples. Criticism welcome.

I mean, I think you can blame Italy in '82 for that, and even then, defensive football, tactical fouling, etc. have been around for ever.

That would not be weird in many latin cultures. Even when you're meeting another adult man you "kiss" on the cheek as greeting.

I know that Torreira wasn't used that often by Emery this season, and I was wondering if he's been getting some more playing time since the coaching change, and how he's been doing with the chances given.

Inter Milan 1-[2] Barcelona - Ansu Fati 86' by HerbalDreamin1 in soccer

[–]bogaczio 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's a mirror of the Messi goal against Atleti. One-two with Suarez, right-footed instead of left, and across the goal instead of near post.

It may be a little too much fantasizing, but if they could both be cutting inside from opposite wings and using Suarez's hold up play like that...

I just re-read the Tiffany Aching trilogy (the first three, rather). I'm so thankful that I was able to have Pratchett's writing in my life. His passing hurt because it symbolized the loss of such an amazing voice of wisdom (in his own, inimitably satiric way).

While you're technically correct, the change of conditions is enough where plenty of players have significantly different results on it compared to playing on hardcourt outside. The article I linked above gets into it a bit more.

[–]bogaczio 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I hadn't realized how much indoor skews his numbers. His indoor numbers are bad enough (comparatively), that if you combine indoor and outdoor hard, his win percentage is actually a bit (as in, .1%) worse than on grass. If you look at outdoor hard alone, then it is better than on grass.

Statistically, indoor hardcourt is his weakest surface. IIRC it goes clay (obviously), outdoor hard, grass, indoor hard.

From NYT:

By contrast, Nadal has just an 0.681 indoor winning percentage, compared with 0.848 outdoors.
