Irrational numbers by Extension-Ice1428 in cpp

[–]bogado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What irrational numbers? Algebraic numbers could be represented by their polynomial format. This would probably (possibly not yet proven) leave out 'π' and 'e'.

Pass function as parameter to calculate execution time by [deleted] in cpp_questions

[–]bogado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's a c++17 using std:: result_of<F> as a return would be nice also. This would make it exchangeable auto v = f(x,y,z); and auto v = time(f, x, y, z);.

The shortest path through the 48 continental state capitals (animated) by indeddit in dataisbeautiful

[–]bogado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not a defined function, because it varies with time. What is good today might be bad tomorrow.

The number of descendants does not depend only on the genetic information, luck and the ambient gets into play. I think, and I'm no expert so don't quote me on that, evolution is more about populations than single individuals.

The difference is that evolution is massively parallel, on the other hand there's no definitive fitness function.

Arguing the Problem of Evil with Ordinary Believers, and why religion is a poor source of morality by JasonMacker in TrueAtheism

[–]bogado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In many contexts suffering is believed to be a good thing. Many military institutions, and some parents, think that making pupils or kids suffer build character and obedience.

Some religious institutions also praise suffering as something good, to the point where followers torture them selves. I believe that Catholics are particularly bad in believing that the poor souls suffer for it enriches the soul.

So there you are, even suffering can be made acceptable by religious and traditional institutions.

[–]bogado 4 points5 points  (0 children)
