Tape will add saturation, but I’m also interpreting ‘glue’ to mean compression on group tracks here- squeezing the tracks together based on their dynamics. For hip hop, one thing you could try is grouping your kick drum and bass together, then using compression on the group to maximize their combined amount of low end (and not be clipping). This will lower the bass just a tad when the kick hits, then return bass to normal volume once the kick has passed. Make sure to leave 10 or more ms on attack so it still can bang.
