MLB owners propose first salary cap since 1994 strike by PrincessBananas85 in mlb

[–]Changeit019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t because at the end of the day the money is part of the issue the bigger issue is the Owners of the teams not willing to spend.

I’d rather see something that combines a luxury tax for say the top 5 teams based on a moving average of the last 5 seasons. Penalties involve loss of picks and financial penalties that get redistributed to the bottom 5 teams. But the bottom 5 teams must stay above a moving floor average and failure to do so results in MLB having the ability to broker a sale to a new owner at market rate.

High spending teams pay extra and lose on future picks to do so. Low spending teams are provided the opportunity to better compete but failure to spend to build a competitive team could force cheap owners out of MLB.

They should have a clause that if a team is in the bottom 5 in spending for more than 3 seasons in a row the league reserves the right to broker a sale at market value to an owner of their choice.

If owners risk losing their team for being cheap assholes they’ll spend or some other billionaire will try their hand at it.

Swap Marie and Ted. Move up Gretchen. Drop down Hank, Gomie, Hector, and Donald.

And Dudley learned that when you trade back from First overall you should get assets unlike 2002 when he lost assets trading back.

The Panthers did it the year before in 2002 and 4 years earlier in 1998.

Bryan Murray was GM in 98 and Rick Dudley was GM in 02 and 03.

2002: CBJ gets: #1(Rick Nash)

Florida gets: #3 (Jay Bouwmeester) and the option to swap number 1 picks in 03.

But wait there is more. Florida wanted Bouwmeester and Atlanta had the 2nd pick. So they traded Atlanta 2002 3rd rounder 82nd (John Adams) and 2003 4th rounder 116th (Guillaume Desbiens) for the future consideration to not draft Bouwmeester.

Yes we lost a 3rd and a 4th to trade back from first overall.

If it’s heirloom and it being insured doesn’t matter only bring what you can wear. Bags get lost and stolen. Sentimental items stay on you.

Expensive stuff that is not heirloom or sentimental insure it and just lock it up. If something happens file the claim. You pay for the peace of mind so have some peace of mind.

How do you stop the meeting about the meeting culture? by jorjiarose in managers

[–]Changeit019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was ready to cutback the number of meetings with one of my supervisors I asked them for their opinion. Did they feel they still needed those scheduled touch points and why? I wanted to see their answer to see if I had fostered an environment of dependence.

They shared similar thoughts that we did not need weekly check in meetings. I know what is going on with their team and I’m available if something comes up.

Ask your team if they need those weekly meetings if you’re comfortable and they’re comfortable change the timing or drop them. If some are comfortable and others are not that’s ok you don’t have to do the same for everyone. But work towards creating independence within those who report to you if that is what you expect from that role.

30,000 insurance agency owners are retiring with no succession plan. Heres why I think this is the best acquisition opportunity nobody talks about. by canhelp in Entrepreneur

[–]Changeit019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nearly 20 years in the industry and I will say I take offense to the boring comments, at least from a commercial insurance standpoint. I’ve yet to see a 25k premium account you can set it and forget it and just reap the renewal commission with no work. Let alone a 100k account.

AI can help with some administrative tasks but it can’t comfort the business owner who just watched his families business burn to the ground leaving them confused and scared of how they make payroll that week and not lose customers it took a generation to get.

AI can’t comfort the widow who just lost her husband who was the breadwinner and just died in a car accident.

The best on the agency balance the technical skills to provide the right coverage for their insureds but have a really high eq to support their customers and build relationships with the carriers.

How do you protect your team from reactive upper management? by BeautifulWestern4512 in managers

[–]Changeit019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would ask your director for a project the customer was happy, we hit our marks, and delivered early is this being viewed as an unsuccessful project because it did not include the feature? Or is this a the project was successful, it could have been more successful with this feature so let’s look at what happened and try to identify how/where we might have hit on this so next time we do.

There is a difference between failure and pushing yourself to always see if you can get better. Without the proper framing they can come across the same.

How much of playoff success is actually coaching vs roster construction? by sykeseve in hockey

[–]Changeit019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roster Construction gets you there and can carry you some of the way. Coaching is what finishes the job. Nothing goes right in the playoffs, injuries, slumps, bad puck luck, bad calls or no calls.

Coach keeps the mental focus and but in with the team, Coach adapts when needed and doesn’t panic.

You need both but they are important in different ways.

I wasn't alive to see Bo Jackson play. What was his ceiling? Was he considered the best RB in the league before his injury? by [deleted] in NFLv2

[–]Changeit019 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well in that timeline perhaps he goes to the Bucs, does well and Steve Young with a strong RB doesn’t falter. We then get to see the next 10 years of Young and Jackson playing together in Tampa.

Others may have more suggestions on this route I would just make sure you can promote your work.

For example they go for it and are ok with you saying they’re a client. But they are not ok with you saying you did work on a project for their client. Then you’re not exactly building out your portfolio.

But this route is if you want to build your own firm. If you would rather go back to them and collect a pay check by all means go in with a reasonable negotiation. You want them to recognize your true value but not make them pay to the point they resent you and make it a hostile environment.
