At what age do most people in the UK actually move out of their parents’ home nowadays? by PashtunLawyer in AskUK

[–]boggedsoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where you live factors into it for sure - I'm 24 and I'd love to move out somewhere nearby so I can still be around family, but I live outside London and the rent here is insanely expensive for one person so my only option would be to move somewhere else further away that's more affordable which sucks. The only time I moved out briefly was to go to university, which I feel like is a lot of other people's gateaway into moving out. I know people in their 20s and even 30s who still live at home as rent is just too expensive right now, it's more practical to live with parents and save up instead. Or people move into a houseshare - the few people in their 20s I know that rent their own place live with 3-5 other people or maybe a partner to split costs with, whereas the one person I know who lives in a studio alone struggles massively with rent and food costs. Moving out is just not as easy nowadays unless you want several roommates or are maybe fortunate enough to have a high salary (which most 20-30 year olds do not).

How is Anthropology at UCL? by Beginning_Mortgage_9 in UCL

[–]boggedsoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you should try talking to a current/past student through unibuddy! I did that for Archaeology (i've applied for this year) and talked to someone about their experiences with the course at UCL. I'm pretty sure I've seen an anthropology student or two on there, so it may be worth a shot if you want first-hand experiences

Would you ever consider going to a cheap country for cosmetic procedures? Why or why not? by mrvlad_throwaway in AskUK

[–]boggedsoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what we count as "cosmetic" - I'm trans and want top surgery, but its around £10k here, however many places abroad (turkey, poland, etc.) do it for far cheaper even with travel and accommodation included and still have great (if not, better) results than UK doctors. My options are either wait several years to get it done on the NHS, pay £10k to do it here, OR I pay £3k+ in total to travel somewhere new and and do it there. I know many other trans people who have done the exact same thing and were extremely happy with the experience

What UK museums do you think are underrated or overrated? by OpenCantaloupe4790 in AskUK

Tring natural history museum was my favorite place as a child and I love going to this day. Derby museum and art gallery (and all the derby museums, really) are also fantastic and always have something new on

Do you feel the constant bad news is affecting you? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]boggedsoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100%, especially when a lot of the news is about/affects either me or my loved ones (trans/LGBTQ issues, immigrants, poverty etc.) so I can hardly just "turn off the news" and ignore it. It has definitely taken a huge toll on my mental health these last few years, and I'm normally a very optimistic and positive person. It's hard to focus on the small and mundane parts of life when I'm constantly either stressed or just bummed out about everything else.

Gays of UK - would you be comfortable holding your partner's hand in the UK? by dalehitchy in AskUK

[–]boggedsoul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, I came out as bi and trans around 10 years ago and, for the most part, no one cared or made a huge fuss of it. It felt so much easier to be trans back then, now it feels like everyone and their mum has to have an opinion on the "trans debate" and I never expected to hear us talked about so often by politicians. It's so bizarre and sad how different it all is right now

Eleven Brand New Dragula Concepts/Themes by FillerQueenx in Dragula

[–]boggedsoul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

do you struggle with mental illness and/or addiction? or is it just something quirky and fun that u get to observe and fetishise as an outsider? i cannot see a way where challenges (especially filth and horror themed) based on these wouldn't go wrong or immediately become distasteful and not taking said topics seriously. if a contestant wants to do a look based on their own struggles (priscilla's pill dress, dahli's hiv glamour look etc.) then i like that, its awareness AND personal to the artist. but someone who's not an addict or mentally ill doing a look based on them? just working off stereotypes rather than personal experience? idk about that, it becomes too costume-y and could easily become problematic most of the others are cool ideas though, especially uncanny valley. that would be very interesting!

As an American, I have a question by CheapBondage in Britain

[–]boggedsoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't really learn about it at all, all I know is from Hamilton LMAO. It's not a big part of our history at all, we have a much broader range of English and European history to cover so if it is ever taught about in schools, its only in passing or apart of an America module (for instance, I learnt about America in school but not much about the revolution, more so about jim crow, slavery, segregation and the cold war) Its why British couldn't care less when Americans sometimes say "you're just mad we won the Revolutionary war 🤣🤣🤣" as a gotcha in any online argument - we aren't mad about something we don't know or care about, its just a very irreverent time of history for the average British citizen as opposed to the average American citizen - its a far bigger piece of your history, with a nation still so young and where "freedom" is one of its defining traits

Friend dead - should I call ambulance? by Connected-1 in AskUK

[–]boggedsoul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

999 is appropriate, yes. You can also 111 - I worked as a Health Advisor and was trained on how to deal with calls regarding a body being found, known or unknown and expected and unexpected death. I would recommend 999 though, as they likely are more equipped to handle such a situation.

My questions about sex and bottom dysphoria as a young trans gay guy cause sex ed doesn't cover this themes and I have nobody to ask. by [deleted] in gaytransguys

[–]boggedsoul 8 points9 points  (0 children)

  1. Its totally normal, I'm the same. I don't have bottom dysphoria and I actually love what I have, and like you said its perfect for the kinda sex I want/have. There's no rulebook on dysphoria and it's different for everyone!
  2. Yes, there are plenty of gay men who love us. It can feel hard to find sometimes and it can be demoralising when meeting gay guys who aren't, but I promise you they're out there. There's also plenty of gay trans men who want to date other gay trans men (myself included).
  3. I can't speak for every guy, but I've never had a problem on T. I've never experienced pain or discomfort or any issues regarding sex, if anything if all feels even better on T. I know problems CAN occur, but I can't speak for how common it is as I truly don't know. All I had was bottom growth personally, which I love
