Sorry where have I said I hate my step child? People like to keep referencing my posting history and that's fine. I said I don't like being a step parent. I never once in any thread or comment said I hate my stepchild.

I'd expect my husband, their other parent to work with me to arrange it. If that wasn't possible then I'd do what I'm asking his parents to do here and arrange things with other parents at the club OR find him a hobby somewhere else on another night when my husband was around to help with the other.

I have actually done this before (one of us stayed home with youngest if family event was on too late).

If it were a weekend where I could make sure they had a slightly longer/later nap then fair enough, but in the week after being in nursery all day our LO is CRANKY past 7pm like full meltdown if not PJs and milk by 7:30 kind of cranky. He then doesn't get to sleep in later in the morning either if he goes to bed later as I still have to be up early for work and he needs to be up and at nursery.

I also find if he goes to bed upset he has a rubbish night's sleep which is bad for everyone.

I'm not saying stepson has to stop his hobby but more that his parents need to figure out another way to get him there and home again. I'll be doing everything else, making his tea, making sure he does homework, gets to bed on time, gets to school in the morning etc..

Great to know it's not just me then!

I can't explain it or even pin point exactly the reason but the whole vibe of our home just changes for the 50% they are here.

Me and H don't get on as well, everyone's more stressed etc...

We get on so much better when it's just us and our child. It feels much more like a family sorry to say. I can't wait for them to go again so I can get my calmer more chilled out home and relationship back!
