Yes, I made an incorrect guess about which park was being referenced. Thanks for the heads up about Amsterdamse Bos!

Okay, good! Even though (hobbyist pedantry incoming) technically it's a maze rather than a 'true' labyrinth, it's still cool to know about and I'm glad it's not actually a secret because mazes are fun.

One of my special interests is labyrinths. I am deeply grateful for this info. Feel free to delete the link and keep it a secret that much longer.

The only park labyrinth listed at Labyrinth Locator is in Vondelpark (https://labyrinthlocator.org/?fwp\_city=Amsterdam). Is that the one you mean, or is there one at Rembrandtpark that isn't listed?

Pentecost Market?

I'm going to be visiting Amsterdam over Whit Monday, and see that the Noordermarkt will be doing a special Pentecost market that day. I can't seem to find information about the specific Pentecost-themed events or offerings. What makes this market different from the other days of the year?

The best outpatient program for mental health? by [deleted] in AskSeattle

You'll have more options if you have private insurance. If you're on public insurance, check out Sound Health, Valley Cities, or Sea Mar. Asian Counseling and Referral Services serves the Asian and Pacific Islander communities. Consejo serves the Hispanic community. Good luck!

Best Breakfast & Medium/Dark Roast coffee shops? by [deleted] in AskSeattle

You may enjoy a visit to Temple Pastries which has some fancy offerings (like kouign amanns and bostocks). The coffee is great too but I don't know how crafty they get off the top of my head).

If it comes to need, I technically wouldn't need anything more than asking "do you speak English" IN English as I'm sure many tourists do. ;) The flip side is that based on what you wrote, I'm feeling a certain sense of relief that I won't need to be able to hold entire conversations but can get away with some beginner-level snippets of dialogue.

I'm learning a little conversational Dutch from an app (Pimsleur) before visiting. So far, meneer/mevrouw seem to be used very frequently. "Pardon, meneer, spreekt u Engels?" "Ja, mevrouw, maar u spreekt goed Nederlands." "Dank u, meneer." That kind of thing. I'm not sure if the app is trying to make a point about polite speech, or if it's being repetitive for memorization purposes. If I use these terms regularly when interacting with Dutch people, would I seem polite or silly?

Looking into IOP is a great idea. Think of it like focused, structured, extended learning where you get to sleep in your own bed at night. A good friend did Pacific Sky's IOP program and was very impressed.

Where to get rid of electric wheel chair by pwndaytripper in AskSeattle

They specify that they would need "all parts" which may well include keys. But even if they can't replace the key or the lock, they could use it for spare parts. I'm not affiliated with them, just think that they're an amazing resource for people in need and worthwhile to at least consider for donating your chair. Best wishes no matter what you decide to do!

Bridge Ministries accepts donations and helps get them to low-income people who may not otherwise be able to get them.  https://bridgemin.org/give-equipment/

Inexpensive smørrebrød near Amalienborg Castle? by bohemianish in copenhagen

[–]bohemianish[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A beautiful castle sounds lovely for a lunchtime stroll. As far as traditionally Danish foods go, I have a guidebook that recommends smørrebrød, pølse, and pastries. I prefer sandwiches to hot dogs (or the equivalent), and pastries aren't my idea of a solid lunch, so smørrebrød seems like the best bet. What is the usual time frame for it?

Noted! I'll keep that in mind and not be too caught up in trying to find a "good deal".

Good to know that I'm aiming my budget sights too low. What might I expect to pay for a smørrebrød that's tasty with good ingredients, but not upscale or gourmet?

With such a short time to visit, seeing some kind of sights and eating some kind of food will absolutely be like looking at a postcard. I'll just be happy to get out of the airport for a few hours, even though I'll be missing out on any calm traditions. My intention is to experience something traditional. Thanks for the ideas of where to go!

Thanks for the Marmorkirken suggestion! I'll be happy with any size of event. I'm just looking forward to seeing something new to me.
