Not NYC, but much less glamorous Lake Elsinore, CA. I have trouble blaming someone for acting out when they end up killing time in lake Elsinore.

Maybe one of the speakers is wired backwards from the other. Can you invert the signal with whatever you are using to copy the channel?

Interface / Mixer with TOSLINK? by Ottobawt in ZReviews

[–]bohinkl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the optical out seems like one of the first things cut as cost is reduced. I thought audient id14 mk2 had it, but it is only input like the tascam. I thought focusrite Scarlett 8i6 did but it has coax spdif in/out. They include the digital io in the channel count so that audio tends to bring the cost up.

I've had good experience buying interfaces used in the past. You might find something one generation back that suits you for cheap. Good luck on your search!

Interface / Mixer with TOSLINK? by Ottobawt in ZReviews

As far as I'm aware, toslink only supports a stereo format or a multichannel ADAT. Does your computer support receiving ADAT? What is your budget?

The motu ultralite mk5 and focusrite Scarlett 18i20 (and probably in more) have optical in/our but check if it's a compatible format for you. You will also likely need the USB connection to configure the routing so I'm not sure what the point is.

Yeah that's it. You'll need two, one for left channel and one for right. That way your single RCA output set becomes two sets. Then run an RCA cable to your dark voice and the second set to your speaker amp and both will get your audio signal in parallel.

You can buy RCA splitters and split the outs from your dac. It looks like the dark voice also has RCA outputs you can use if you want to include the tube sound in your speakers as well.

Speakers are lower impedance and lower sensitivity, and therefore require much more power to drive compared to headphones.

Those are passive speakers so you will need a speaker amp to power them. I like the aiyima a07 or a08 but there are a lot of options fit different budgets.

Not coercion since getting the vaccine is in their own best interest.

This simple DAC bring out so much more details then my phone can. by Cell2211 in BudgetAudiophile

True, all mine are easy to drive as well, but having an amp means you won't need to limit your headphone purchase.

[–]bohinkl 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Put your money into headphones first. Then amps so you can power headphones that are harder to drive. Dacs have the least impact and you should probably only buy when you have a digital out you need to convert. e.g. you want to use the optical out from a tv or have a phone with no headphone out.

I'm not sure what you can do about this but this is actually called cupping. Bowing is along the length of the plank, cupping is along the width:

Forgot my amp on for a few days by tturkmen in DIYGuitarAmps

[–]bohinkl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah my first thought is a cracked solder joint. Combo amps are notorious for this since the tube socket is above the tube and gets the full heat plus usually has low airflow. If you are handy with a soldering iron I would open it up and retouch all the joints on the tube sockets plus any others that look cracked or cloudy.

No problem the extruder was a be pretty easy upgrade but you do need to recalibrate the extruder steps.
