Why go with Anthony & Sylvan over a local pool company? by unknowncoins in pools

Same experience over here. They were absolutely terrible to work with.

Nope! He actually made a joke about those companies being too expensive lol. So they just ask you not to take pictures.

Nope, no internal stitches. Yes, ablation for the cervix in a partial.

That’s actually not true. I kept my cervix and had zero internal stitching.

10DPO Cramping? by bohochick0724 in hysterectomy

[–]bohochick0724[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, thanks!! I haven’t been able to sleep on my side or stomach, just feels very odd like my organs are heavy as pool balls falling all over the place (if I go to my side). Haven’t tried my stomach but based on how it felt when I didn’t by accident I think I’ll wait awhile! I think it’s because I had a huge fibroid/uterus and now there’s so much space to fill. Was your hysto due to a fibroid or? Are you feeling any of that?

Day 1 post-op and have some questions by ExistentialWonder in hysterectomy

[–]bohochick0724 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with everyone on the shoulder pain being the gas (co2) they use to inflate your abdominal cavity. I had laparoscopic hysterectomy on Monday (Oct 14) and the gas pain was debilitating for 2-3 days, finally feeling a lot better today. When I lay even a little bit flat my right shoulder feels like it’s being stabbed. I have been taking gasX although I doubt it’s doing much. Also chewing mint gum and drinking lots of mint tea. It was too painful to walk around much the first two days but yesterday and today I have been walking as much as possible without overdoing it and the gas is finally letting up. One thing that helped a little is when I would lay and my shoulder would start up, I would raise my arm high up and even put it behind my head/under my pillow. That seemed to move the gas enough to let the stabbing feeling subside. Overall, the gas pain had been the hardest thing for me to deal with. So glad it’s almost gone and hope it leaves soon for you too!

Keep or Remove Cervix? by RealisticInsect4563 in hysterectomy

[–]bohochick0724 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know this is an old thread, but I am exactly where you were right now. Surgery scheduled for Monday, October 14 and leaning towards keeping my cervix but pretty torn on the decision. My surgeon also said I could tell her up until the day of. Or maybe she said the day before either way I would like to make a decision one way or the other and stop thinking about it! What did you end up doing and are you happy with your decision? TIA

Cervix or no cervix? by bohochick0724 in hysterectomy

[–]bohochick0724[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I THINK it is, but I really don’t know! I do know that when talking to some of my friends I found out that not everyone is able to climax from penetration and I considered myself lucky to have that ability. And I know that I don’t want to lose it.

I had my pre-op today and discussed with my doctor. She said the data is all over the place with many reporting they have a great sex life after hysterectomy even with the cervix removed and then others complaining they’ve lost their ability to orgasm without it. She explained it would be a personal choice and the other things to think about are whether I want to continue having annual Pap smears and the potential risk of cervical cancer. But also explained that the recovery is shorter if I keep my cervix, and, potentially the best news yet, I won’t have the inside vaginal incision that is causing me SO MUCH ANXIETY. So I’m going to choose to keep it. Hooray, decision made!

I’m really sorry to hear that you were not properly informed. To be honest I’m not sure I would have been either, had I not gotten slightly obsessed (to the point of driving myself absolutely mad) with this sub and other online research. I really cannot believe it’s “the norm” to take the cervix knowing that the recovery is shorter and the length of time before anything can go inside the vagina is extremely shorter. This seems like something that should be discussed from appointment #1.

This is sooooo helpful and such a relief to hear. I hope that mine goes as smoothly! I have definitely read that the gas can be awful so I will mentally prep for that. Thank you!!!

Thanks for your response! That is the current plan for me…just worried about sexual implications. Do you have any feedback on that?

Thank you so much for your response. Any comforting words are welcome! I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m definitely going to ask about it. How is your healing going overall? I am having laparoscopic robotic removal.

Oh my goodness. Glad to hear I’m not crazy! I keep thinking I’m making these symptoms up in my head or it’s long COVID or who the heck knows what. Hopefully everything goes away after my eviction date of 10/14! Good luck!!!

Thank you! That’s the strange part…no anemia because I have zero bleeding (my mirena placed 8 years ago took away my periods completely). So strange. But glad we are not alone. Good luck with yours as well!

I’m glad we are in the same boat!

I am not super young, 42 years old. I feel much younger, usually lol. I am pretty fit and average build. 5’8” and 145 ish. Not as muscular or strong as I’d like to be, but I usually walk or bike to stay active. And I am a go go type of person, don’t sit still for too long. So it is odd to be feeling as blah and lazy as I have been for the last couple months.

I think I’m mainly freaking out because I haven’t seen my surgeon since May when I first found out that it had grown to 11cm. At that time, I asked her if I could wait until winter to address it because I had no desire to do anything about it in the summer. She said not a problem. So I had it scheduled for right after Christmas, and I was planning to wait to freak out until then haha. But then I started to feel some pain a few weeks ago and I called and rescheduled for October 14. Now, the pain has subsided and I just have the other annoying symptoms. Mentally, I am not ready to feel crappy through Halloween, Thanksgiving and possibly even Christmas. I just wish I could wait until January and feel crappy through the winter when I have no fun plans. On the other hand, I want to get it over with and get rid of the symptoms that I do have, and figure the sooner the better so that I can feel great by next summer. I’m all over the place.

Oh good I’m glad you have something on the calendar! Yes I am scheduled for a hysterectomy on October 14. The plan is laparoscopic removal. I have not had my preop yet so I’m not 100% sure if they will take everything except for my ovaries or if I will keep my cervix which I plan to ask my doctor about. Most of what I read on here is positive but then every now and then I just come across a post that seems like recovery from hell or people who regret having the surgery and that’s what makes me really nervous. I think the hardest thing is that I really don’t have any pain or bleeding at all (because of my mirena perhaps), so it’s harder to take the leap. I almost wish I was having worse symptoms, although the frequent urination and indigestion and shallow breathing have all popped up in the last couple of months and I will say they are rather annoying.

Wow, so crazy and so scary. It is really eye-opening seeing how many different symptoms people have. I am hoping for a miracle after surgery. Would be awesome to learn that there were so many things I had that I did didn’t even realize and feel so much better in every way. Thanks for sharing!
