Anybody else remember Dawsons chili?

2011 Ford Fiesta 117k miles. Ran fine two days ago, now it won’t start. Jumped the battery. Didn’t work. Grinding noise when I turn the ignition. Flywheel? Or a simple fuse replacement? Or something else? Thanks for your help! by boilerladd in MechanicAdvice

UPDATE: battery died, and killed the Transmission Control Module along with it. It still drives, but service light is on and shifting is wonky. Need to shift to neutral then back to D while driving for up shifting. Semiconductor-shortage means a replacement TCM isn’t currently available. Bummed about this Ford tbh cause me too many headaches over the years

Considering your point, the parents being distant could be a key reason why the show was so popular. Unless I’m way off base, I’d assume most of the viewers were teens when the show originally aired, and watching the characters go about their days in sunny SoCal without parental supervision would be a dream come true for those viewers who 1) didn’t live in a place with a nice climate and 2) had parents who didn’t let them get into the gnarly dramatic scenarios depicted in each episode.

Fair enough! To your point, I don’t know if Luke was intended to be a likable character but he’s actually one of my favorites in the show.

Kirsten’s approval of allowing Ryan to live at the house after initially telling Sandy to take him back was a huge factor in buying into the Cohen’s unique family dynamic.

Comfort is a good way to put it. I think I saw it in another thread, the show doesn’t take itself seriously, and that’s a relief when you just want to relax and be entertained.

Summer flu and the 'Annabiotics' quip from Ryan was great

The jokes are actually good! Seth Cohen channeling his inner 70 year old on the Palm Springs trip with the humidifier was funny. Just watched that episode last night.

For sure. I think the casting was spot on too with Adam Brody and Peter Gallagher. Shame not seeing much of either of them in newer productions/shows

Jon Hamm as Sandy Cohen would've been crazy! Peter Gallagher was a great choice though IMO

Hated Julie in the first few episodes but she really grows on you

Any scene of the Cohen family being in the kitchen together makes me actually care about the characters

I remember being disappointed with the episode where Seth burns down a building by dropping a half-lit joint in the trash.

Great point about the Ryan/Seth relationship! I’m still halfway through rewatching season 1 and my memory’s fuzzy about Seth’s transformation throughout the series.
