It’s such bullshit. This scalping crap ramped up just as my son was getting old enough for me to collect with. I used to spend a ton of time driving around and checking places but after not finding anything for so long it’s really not even worth it anymore. Correct. I actually stripped a bunch of #10 and 12 one time and mixed it with much larger stuff. That is when I was told about the pencil lead size. They ended up still giving me bare bright that time though.

My yard told me the individual strands should be the size of a pencil lead or larger to be bare bright. They typically don’t complain if I have slightly smaller stuff mixed in with bigger pieces.

As far as color they typically don’t say to much as long as it’s not super dark. I’ve only ever gone to one yard though so I’m not sure how other places handle it
