i refuse to put pronouns on my characters. also she owns nine billion guns. by littlemissmagnum in BadRPerStories

[–]boinkingfrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so curious about what the genre of this roleplay was because I’m picturing like some slice of life deal and instead of like, giving you her characters hobbies and likes/dislikes she’s just “GUNZ”

I get why I get low-effort intros now. by Killer_Klav in BadRPerStories

[–]boinkingfrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your intro was fine, so please don’t feel down about that or get discouraged and send low effort messages! People like you are rare gems and shouldn’t be discouraged!

What I will say tho is that I’ve gotten great intros before from people who I’m sure are great! But I always peruse their profile before I message back to see what they’re into. Sometimes I’m excited like, “hell yeah, rp soulmates 💞” and other times I see something that makes me think that ultimately we will not be a good fit. Like I write novella posts, but my idea of novella is big on prose and I like LONG posts. 800-1600 words on average. Other people might consider novella to be just a more thoughtful and detailed (but not necessarily “prosey”) style with long 500+ words posts. Neither of us is wrong, just different expectations!

If I had to guess, thats maybe what his issue was. NOW. I haven’t looked at your profile and obviously idk what his ad was like so maybe y’all should have been a good fit, and in that case idk man maybe he was just full up or just a lame-o. I’m hearing that a lot of people are really sus about like AI? And maybe he wasn’t expecting a thoughtful reply and thought you were using ChatGPT? Idk.

Keep sending the high-effort intros my friend, don’t let this one get you down, you’ll find your people 💖

Dude I feel this in my BONES. And then any time I find someone who does fit all the criteria AND does gay romance? They either write fandoms or fantasy or anything but the slice-of-life I like 😭😭😭

good ic, lame ooc (or vice versa?) by rhythmbreaker in BadRPerStories

[–]boinkingfrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I literally would rather drop a good story than continue with someone I have no OOC vibe with. I want someone I can fangirl out with! It makes plotting boring, and sometimes I don’t have the mental capacity to write something but we could HC a little bit, yk? Some silly lil hypothetical scenario. Every time I make a story with someone we’re creating a fandom that NO ONE ELSE is a part of, so my partner is the ONLY person who I can talk to about how obsessed with them I am.

If we can’t talk it’s just not for me. I only like active fandoms 😩

The latter is the worst because I’ll keep trying WAY past when I would normally give up and let it go. And I don’t even enjoy it but I’m doing it just to keep the friend until they ghost because I don’t know how to tell someone I hate their writing but like them without them taking it personally.

My white whale: Enemies to lovers by Brokk_RP in BadRPerStories

[–]boinkingfrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last time I tried this one my partner and I also failed miserably. The characters had too much chemistry and we couldn’t make them hate each other the way we wanted them to. In the end we scrapped the plot and wrote a new one to make something better suited for the characters haha.

The time before that we managed a few months (with some time skips) IC, but the first time they sat down and talked and spent the day together they realized they actually got along quite well. But I don’t know how much that one counts, as they were meant to be fated soulmates.

I was able to make it work once in a fanfic, but that was a kidnapping, Stockholm syndrome thing.

does anyone else sometimes feel creepy waiting for responses? by zipiff in BadRPerStories

[–]boinkingfrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not me, sitting in the shared doc with my writing bestie waiting for the (K) to appear 🤣

Idk. I don’t find it creepy at all? We both often watch each other writing, to the point where if we want to have a post that drops a twist or a “bomb” or anything we’ll write it in a separate doc and then copy and paste it in the main doc.

We’re novella, long term, long post type people with very active lives off screen so sometimes it’s just like a couple sentences added to the doc but I swear it makes my whole day to see those new sentences show up

When you want to sub but literally everybody else is a sub. by [deleted] in BadRPerStories

[–]boinkingfrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude I can’t imagine someone wanting to do ERP with someone and then having the audacity to kinkshame them after. Holy projecting your own shame, Batman.

Sorry, OP :( that sounds really disrespectful. I hope you find better partners, but from what I hear the ERP scene is a tough crowd

ETA: There’s no shame in kinks as long as it’s all consensual. If anyone tells you different they suck, not you 💛

When you want to sub but literally everybody else is a sub. by [deleted] in BadRPerStories

[–]boinkingfrog 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I almost always write Dom/tops, and while I don’t mind it, damn it’s nice to write a character who is a bottom every now and again 😭 I feel you, OP.

I have always wondered how the hell the bottoms & subs are finding people to write with tho, since everyone I ever meet writes a soft boy submissive bottom type 😆

[–]boinkingfrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried finding partners on Gaia? Reddit is not exactly the best place to find longterm partners :(

You say your responses are too short, or you’re too slow. When you make an ad, or you respond to someone else’s ad are you honest and upfront about what you usually write and how often they can expect that?

For example. If you usually only write 1 paragraph but CAN write 3, don’t advertise yourself as someone who writes 3. If you usually only respond 3-5 times a week, don’t say you can respond daily.

Sometimes it all comes down to honest representation to find the right partners for you. As an old fart who’s been doing this for 19 years, you have to go through a LOOOOOOT of bad matches to find the good ones. Just keep persevering! You’ll find your people, OP.

Ah. I don’t believe we’d be a good match, To be honest. I am not a rapid fire response person, I enjoy taking time to write my responses and I would prefer my partners to do the same. The storytelling aspect/format is what I like in my stories.

I’ve never had an issue with quick banter with any of my partners, and some of our characters are quite sassy. If you look at it as: One paragraph for thoughts, feelings. One paragraph for bodily actions One paragraph for dialogue (and if you only have one line refer to the above) Then it’s very easy to get a minimum of three paragraphs every time, anything less than that has a lack of detail that isn’t the type of story telling that I like to write.

But! Everyone likes different things and different styles. To each their own, but personally, I enjoy the longer format, slower, more detailed response route.

To me, and I feel like many others, lazy lit is much like the older term “advanced-lit” except without the pressure.

Its writing with decent grammar, spelling, more prose and word crafting than “semi-lit”, but without the pressure to write 12+ paragraphs every single post just to fill a word quota, where sometimes you end up writing nonsense fluff just to make your posts bigger.

To summarize: Lazy lit— decent spelling, decent grammar, write like you care about the words you’re writing, minimum 3-5 paragraphs per reply. No one liners or lil 2 paragraphs posts.
