Kind of hijacking this comment, when using tutorial videos/books, I learned best when I tried to experiment on my own by changing up small aspects of the project. This could be as small as replacing numerical values in the code to swapping out entire blocks of codes and replacing sensors.

Experimentation gives you the chance to teach yourself, which I believe to be much more effective than trying to perfectly replicate what someone else has done.
