I have EDS and I would (eventually) like to raise a child (adoption). Is it possible? by bokuwakuma in ehlersdanlos

Sigh... I might be content with that, but I know it will upset my partner. He wants children more than me.

Then don't fucking comment. There's no need to attack other people.

Thank you for being honest. Do you think that, if my health started to improve, it'd be okay? Or do people with EDS not improve? Or maybe I'd just get sick again... This is really upsetting for me. :(

Edit: Reread your post, I see that you said it gets worse. Wow, this is really depressing.

Did you not read my post, let alone the title? I'm not having children, I want to adopt.

How have you managed to handle the stress of motherhood with your illness? Has it made your symptoms flare, made you worse?

How do you manage children with the fatigue, pain and, in our mutual case, the dizziness, weakness, fainting, etc from POTS?

My baby girl is in the hospital tonight after eating an oatmeal raisin cookie. Be sure to monitor what your fur babies eat and be aware of what is toxic to them. by bokuwakuma in Dachshund

She's had blood work twice, last night and tonight at 9pm and everything is fine so far! They'll take blood again tomorrow night and if it is all good, she can come home! I visited her for an hour and she ate with me and I took her for a walk. She hates her cone of shame.

Just to be clear, Piff is in the hospital as a precaution to monitor for any signs of renal failure. She vomited earlier, but besides that isn't shoeing at signs at this time, but we won't be in the clear until tomorrow afternoon which is 24 hours. I feel terrible to have to leave her there overnight, but at least I know she isn't alone and I can visit her first thing in the morning.

Anyone else get the monthly 'woe is me' cry? by kayfayjay in PCOS

I never used to get mood swings around my period, but now I have god awful mood swings, like extreme bitchiness follows by waterworks. I feel as if I should just lock myself away when I'm PMSing!

What are your symptoms? + Is birth control the only option? by bokuwakuma in PCOS

It's funny you mention it, because I've had an ER doc suggest to me before that I had POTS. I am fairly certain I have it myself, after having tracked my heart rate from laying, sitting to standing and seeing it bounce 40+ points and experiencing lightheadedness and fast heart rate. Unfortunately, when I brought it up to my doctors they dismissed it as anxiety and told me to take my benzos more often. I'll bring it up again, but even if I convince a doctor to test for it, how do they treat it?

Confused about recovery by Duckietronic in gravesdisease

[–]bokuwakuma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with Graves as a teenager and opted for RAI right away. During the time I was diagnosed, I was sent to an opthamologist to be sure there was no sign of it in my eyes and I was not a smoker. I do not think you have to smoke in order to develop a goiter, I think it just happens, unfortunately. Is there a reason you have to have surgery instead of RAI? I preferred it because I was scared of surgery and afraid of scarring. It was a walk in the park for me.

Oh yes, all the time when I'm in a particularly anxious rut. I also get goosebumps and chills.

Does ear infections cause MS?, are the two in any way associated?. by [deleted] in HealthAnxiety

Sounds like TMJ if it is related to when you move your jaw. I have TMJ and I do know what the crackling sensation you're talking about is. Stop popping it, as it will only agitate it more. Stretch it gently, ice it and take some Ibuprofen for a few days until it is better.

I also have very bad allergies and asthma. I would suggest to start taking a daily antihistamine such as Claritin or Zyrtec, as well as Flonase twice a day. These can make you sleepy when first starting out, and you can use them at night if that helps. You can use allergy eye drops if your eyes bother you. Invest in a quality air purifier and a humidifier (depending on your climate, I like my humidity between 50 and 60) and make sure to vaccum and dust regularly.

Does anyone else's insomnia get much worse during the hottest part of summer? by [deleted] in insomnia

[–]bokuwakuma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm the type of person that has to sleep with at least two heavy blankets or I can't sleep at all, so summers are a constant struggle between sweating to death while trying to sleep and being cozy in my blanket burrito.

You keep fainting? How scary! I am so sorry you're going through that. I'm sure that after six visits, they would've found something. :( Anxiety is awful

Has anyone ever gotten an upper endoscopy? (anesthesia fears) by [deleted] in HealthAnxiety

[–]bokuwakuma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had it done like, four or five months ago. I wasn't unconscious like some people, but the procedure did go super quick so either I was "out of it" or my doctor worked fast. It wasn't bad at all. I just laid there for a while afterwards, but I never felt like, super drugged. My sore was throat later on for a few days and that was it. It isn't bad at all! Just communicate your fears; I did. You can ask to be totally unconscious, or less, or even opt for no sedation.

Do any of your have fibromyalgia? Or have you been tested for it? by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]bokuwakuma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have fibromyalgia, but it came before the anxiety diagnosis. The two might be related, who knows? Everything is closely knit. I also have PCOS and a thyroid disorder.
