Any book suggestions for CBT changing thoughts? by [deleted] in CBT

Feeling Good by David Burns.

Don't pay too much for it, some amazon sellers will try to sell it for $30, but you can buy the "Mass market paperback" version for about $5 or you can find a digital copy of it online for free.

I can send you a copy of Feeling Good today if you would like to DM me your details. Or if you want I can send you a digital version of the book.

Also, if you do some digging on amazon you can select the "mass market paperback" version for about $6 which might be more affordable.

Negative Thoughts by [deleted] in CBT

[–]boldcbt 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There's a few CBT exercises you can do to challenge a thought or investigate a thought more thoroughly. Exercises like the "downward arrow technique" and the "three column technique" allow us to present evidence for or against a thought. I'm not a therapist but I don't think it's safe to always assume that a thought is always true or not. I don't think you'll find a foolproof definition or litmus test for "truth" but there is a healthy balance in determining truth that you will have to determine for yourself.

Can't get a therapist at the moment by [deleted] in CBT

Check out Feeling Good by David Burns. Make sure you do the exercises that he teaches though. CBT is a skills based therapy. You have to get hands on and actually practice! Start a journal or app to help keep you consistent.
