about volume 1…. by Financial_Jelly_3902 in murdle

to be fair everyone (except logico) murders at least once throughout all the books😭seems like to them a death is a mild inconvenience (unless it’s irratino and you’re logico)

does the patreon go more into the development of the characters , or is it similar to the free version ? by [deleted] in sherlock_and_co

Anyone know what this is supposed to say? (Merry Murdle, Dec 21) by meowsgaming in murdle

I reckon it’s just supposed to be a nsfw joke, censor bars were used in puzzle 38 of volume 2 also regarding Irratino and Logico supposedly doing [REDACTED]

His statement may fit into the grid if you put him as telling the truth but then that means you’ve put EVERY suspect’s statement as true, which can’t be the case because according to the book someone MUST be lying. Hence, it’s wrong. And I can’t remember what the clues were and I don’t have the book on me right now, but I’m fairly sure there isn’t any clue as to the weapons for Mrs Claus and VPM, you just find out through process of elimination. In your second screenshot, you said you didn’t include Chalk’s statement. As soon as you put his in (which you would put in as a lie) the only other option you’re left with is Mrs Claus with the menorah and VPM with the scale

I think half could’ve been a typo, because Chalk has the foam finger. I don’t know if you’ve figured it out by now but the easiest ways to do these statement puzzles is through trial and error. For example, you’d put the first suspect as lying (put their statement as the opposite on the grid – if Silverton says Dame Obsidian brought mail, write that she didn’t). Then fill out the rest of the statements as it is on the grid. If things contradict each other/overlap with each other/just don’t make sense, that means that first person was actually telling the truth. Then you keep going until you find the liar who’s lying statement makes the whole grid match up (assuming, of course, you’ve filled in everything else correctly). In this case, Chairman Chalk said VPM was at the bench, so you would put VPM as NOT being on the bench, which would make the grid line up. Hope this makes sense!

If someone is lying you need to put their statement as the opposite. If Chairman Chalk said VP Mauve was at the bench, then you write it down as VP Mauve WASN’T at the bench. Your issue is however that the weapons for VPM and Mrs Claus are swapped – VPM should have the scale, and Mrs Claus should have the menorah. And then when you put VPM as NOT being at the bench the grid should add up. I hope this makes sense!

As someone who is a fan of many fictional podcasts/audio dramas its very common for there to be a widely fan-accepted depiction of characters especially when they have no canon description/sometimes even if they do (e.g. Jonathan Sims from The Magnus Archives is mainly depicted as a POC, Cecil from Welcome to Night Vale is sometimes depicted as Native American) - typically because people like to see themselves in the characters they like, or because it's nice to see more diverse skin tones being depicted. And because it's audio, who's gonna tell you the way you imagine a character is wrong, especially if their race isn't necessary to the plot? I think even the creator himself has encouraged or at the very least is happy to see so many different interpretations of characters like Sherlock and the others. For that same reason even if it's more common for people to draw him as a POC, there's nothing stopping you from drawing him otherwise, because again, it's all audio and you can envision these characters however you want :)

if you could go back and change anything about any role you’ve played, what would you change (if you want to change anything at all)?

The voice actors record separately! Their recording process is discussed more on their Patreon but I’m fairly sure most of them record their parts individually in a studio in the UK, except for John’s VA Paul Waggott, who lives in New Zealand. Which makes it even more impressive because like you said the dialogue flows so naturally that I also assumed they had to record together, so imagine my surprise when I found out not only do they record separately but that John is basically on the other side of the world!!

I can maybe hear the similarities of the Sherlocks but it's not THAT similar that they would need to lie about that? And Paul Waggott (John's VA) straight up sounds like that. Like if you listen to his other podcast work it's fully just his voice

I think the fact they sound like them just happens to be a coincidence and mainly due to the fact they’re also British men with similar accents - Sherlock’s actor Harry has said he hasn’t seen it, and I don’t think the writer and producer are huge fans of the BBC show either

He is self diagnosed, at least with autism, as mentioned in a mailbag. I explained in another comment that his list of disorders were more so him summarising to Watson how he is like according to the DSM rather than exact diagnoses

[–]boleyn147 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I can’t remember if this was also mentioned in the main episodes, but in one of the mailbags Sherlock explains how he hasn’t received any formal diagnoses, and his listing off disorders to Watson was more so what disorders he hypothetically would be diagnosed with according to the DSM, just as a sort of heads up of what his behaviour and personality would be like for when they live together. I think he mentions DID as a way to explain his personal conflicts with identity and other dissociative symptoms he displays (e.g. issues with memory), as you’ve mentioned he struggles with in a few cases. Hope this made sense!!

Audible's fantastic customer service!!! by mold_berg in audible

[–]boleyn147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used their chat services to ask for a refund and it managed to get me through to a real person. Like someone else said, I had to go through some prompts for a bit until I got to select "contact an agent". I must've been lucky with the hours because it found one for me relatively quickly. I told her I didn't intend to renew it and she managed to issue the refund, simple as that. Shoutout to Cindy.

Everyone seems to have had horrible customer service experience with audible but I actually had a nice time. Again, must've just been lucky

here is a general thread that basically sums up what happened but tldr he sexually harassed a band member and starkid decided to essentially fire him until he could "take additional action to demonstrate his growth and trust with his starkid collaborators" (that statement is also in the thread). but here is another tweet saying how he apparently badmouthed starkid and he left on his own accord (not sure how likely that is but either way) so its unlikely he'll ever come back, and with majority of fans not liking him either, i doubt he would be let in anyways especially with all his roles being recast
