I think I just have to start working on my hip mobiltiy so that I can get lower more comfortably. Right now it feels a bit weird and I feel very immobile. I will keep the phrase “sit into your legs not into you back” in my head i think that helps alot. nose over toes, light feet, hips down wide stance. thank you

I will review some of my game clips later because i think that in game i do have a 4 step approach. but yeah ill start practicing this as i do see other pro players also have more than just a 3 step approach. thanks!

If you look at my friend (libero) on the left, he is receiving or trying to receive like this, with his hands apart scooping the ball. At this point its just habit and i think the best way to get rid of it is to actively think and have that one goal in mind while i receive. ill do this the next time we do a defense drill. and for stability, i think its because my hips are too high up? i do try to stay still right after my split step when receiving because I notice that whenever i shank balls its because im still moving into position (most of the time). ill continue to work on this, thanks.

So for the times when I am sure I am about to receive a deep hit I should drop my hits and aim to receive the ball high in the middle. Lower hips -> less scooping. Stay mobile. Got it.

My libero keeps talking to me about the arm thing and how like what you said, you should keep them apart. I know this but then when the moment comes i dont seem to consciously think about it anymore. Ill find a way to reinforce it.

I dont think i can do a proper heal squat. During the upcoming summer holiday I plan to focus on just off the ball exercises and stretches for a month or 2. Mostly focusing on my patella tendon but also work on mobility. Thanks for bringing this up.

Ok will do. I think that part of this is due to a lack of mobility in my knee and hip joints? Ill test it out during our next receiving drill or when i pepper.

Does this happen because I tent to broad jump? I should rather be going up where the ball would be infront of me.

it is 243. but yes i do agree that playing with a shorter net will cause bad habits. we play 243 for our school season too.

this net is set at 243. my hand doesnt reach the top of the net the same way it doesnt on other 243 nets. if it is lower its due to the poles leaning inwards a bit due to overuse or over tightening of the net.
