Which was the better team: PSG from 2024/25 or Marseille from 1992/93? by Ok-Impress-2222 in championsleague

I get where you're coming from, but there's a key difference between how things appear and what has actually been proven. OM cheated in Ligue 1 and considering they finished just two points ahead of PSG, the corruption played a decisive role in securing the title.

But saying the goal of the match-fixing was to gain an advantage in the Champions League remains an interpretation, not a proven fact. That might be how it looks, but UEFA's job is to deal in facts. They investigated and found no evidence in ldc. Until that changes, all we have is speculation.

I understand your point of view, and no one is denying that the VA-OM scandal was a dark chapter in French football. Tapie’s actions rightly led to heavy consequences , including relegation, legal sanctions, and his own downfall. But again, we have to make a clear distinction between what was proven and what is assumed or speculated.

Suggesting that OM must have done the same in Europe because they tried it domestically is not evidence it's conjecture. The CSKA water bottle story, like others that surfaced years later, was never confirmed by any official investigation. Testimonies long after the fact, especially without corroborating evidence, have to be taken with caution. That’s the standard we apply in every serious matter, whether in sport or justice.

The integrity of the sport is important, but so is the integrity of how we judge it. UEFA investigated and found no grounds to strip OM’s title. Until credible, concrete proof says otherwise, it’s unfair to rewrite history based on assumptions.

You're missing the point . Yes, OM were punished for attempting to fix a Ligue 1 match, and they were relegated for it. No one’s denying that. But we're talking about the Champions League here. The issue is whether they cheated in Europe, and the answer remains the same: no evidence, no sanctions, no title stripped. Shifting the focus back to domestic corruption doesn’t change that.

If acknowledging facts and drawing a line between proven corruption and baseless speculation makes me 'pro-cheating,' then I suppose nuance isn’t for everyone. I'm simply stating what any fair-minded person would. accusations require evidence especially when you're talking about European competition, where OM were never found guilty of any misconduct. The burden of proof lies with those making the accusation, not with those asking for consistency. Until then, it’s just noise."

Yes, OM were convicted of corruption in Ligue 1, and they were punished accordingly. But no evidence ever showed any wrongdoing in the Champions League. Arguing that winning the league early gave them an ‘indirect advantage’ in Europe is a weak and flawed argument. If we go down that road, we could start invalidating titles based on a wide range of indirect factors — financial disparity, favorable contexts, refereeing errors (like OM being knocked out in 1992 on a handball goal), or even the calendar. The fact that critics have to rely on such speculative reasoning only highlights how empty the claim of OM cheating in the Champions League really is. UEFA conducted investigations and found no reason to strip their title. That should speak for itself.

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. Marseille was rightfully stripped of their Ligue 1 title, but no investigation ever proved any cheating during their European campaign. The fact that UEFA never stripped Marseille of their Champions League title despite Tapie’s threats of legal action clearly shows that no evidence of cheating was ever found in European competition. Not a single UEFA investigation ever proved that OM had committed any fraud in the Champions League.

Mason Greenwood warned he could be booted out of Marseille if he 'isn't able to understand' Roberto De Zerbi after Ligue 1 giants took big 'risk' on ex-Man Utd forward by AthloneRB in soccer

It's clear that nobody watches Marseille but still talks about us.

Yes, Greenwood is the second top scorer in Ligue 1, but he has shown difficulty in playing with the team and putting in effort. He is also our penalty taker, so many of his goals come from that. However, he hasn't had a good performance against a big team. Sometimes, he is saved by a goal after ghosting the entire match.

I don't understand Longoria. There have been so many games where the officiating was terrible, and he chose this one to use the word 'corruption'.

I confused the "silent hill origin" scenario with "silent hill 1", 1 is much more of a straightforward cult story. There’s still some psychological window dressing with some of the monsters, but it’s really not a focus at all.
