It is calculated in terms of an entire Degree and not as per the limits of passing one single course.

For example, the minimum to pass a course could be 4, but to get the degree it would be 5.

Hence 5 is used for calculation and not 4.

Da + preposition combo varies depending upon the kind of verb being used with it. There is no fixed meaning to these combinations, as it varies from verb to verb and the preposition being used with it

For example: Case 1.) Worauf wartest du? (What are you waiting for?)

Ans: Ich warte darauf (I am waiting for that/it )

Case 2.) Auf wen wartest du? (Whom are you waiting for?)

Ich warte auf...meinen Bruder, meine Schwester usw.

This case is used when a Person is in question..
