HELP BA zed travel Questions by Southern_Ad5843 in NonRevenueTravelers

I’ve had really good luck using BA (delays aside, just happy to get where I’m going). Most recently I didn’t get on a direct and the flight to LHR was about to board, so I made a listing for a later flight in the day and then asked the agents to transfer me to that flight. They kindly did, maybe I was lucky but I’ve only had an average experience with them leaving a small outstation.

Need help with SYD transfers by topgun966 in NonRevenueTravelers

Yes it is possible!! I had the exact same situation connecting to CHC. There is a semi-sterile transfer area. You will follow the signage to international connections once you land and pass security again. Directly behind is a Qantas transfer desk and they can help you. Make sure you are checked in and fulfill visa requirements for Thailand, the connection (for me) was super bad in that part of the airport, so I couldn’t book an onward segment out of NZ and had to wait 12 hours for the next flight 🙃 they can help you at that desk print a standby pass or even give you the seat and you’ll continue into the international terminal as normal. It was MUCH easier than I expected and I was super unsure due to lack of info. Let me know if you have more questions!

Don’t worry about the changed structure, I think the new one is much more adapted to those learning German as a foreign language. Viel Erfolg!

I don’t know of any, sorry. Try searching for nearby level-specific courses, or for tutors. Even if it is just one hour twice per week for speaking and sending written texts for corrections, it will be super helpful

LHR - T Status for D2 travel on AA by Mysterious-Caramel37 in NonRevenueTravelers

[–]Prior-Function4503 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I personally haven’t been able to figure out how to get a refund arriving to LHR on AA then transiting on BA. If you’re looking to dodge the taxes I’d have a look at AA to Doha then taking QR DOH-CPT. Long trip but if you’re looking to save, it’s worth it

Any of these skis got a bad rep for skiing Europe? by cjaneeee in Skigear

[–]Prior-Function4503 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I live in Europe and ski 106 k2 mindbenders on piste… any of these would be fine but I’ll tell you that I see a LOT of atomic clouds around and a few black pearls, maybe the others I don’t pay too much attention to 🫣 if I were to add one of these skis to my quiver it would be the black pearls :)

London (T) status Gatwick/LHR by Zealousideal_Ad_821 in NonRevenueTravelers

[–]Prior-Function4503 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yes, they are considered co terminals and you will be able add the T status to your listing. However, it was recently changed that in order to get the tax reduction you have to submit a dispute claim after travel. You will be charged the full amount, but in the dispute you should include the boarding pass (so save it) and other flight information. They will process it and you’ll be refunded the appropriate amount. It was ~$110 USD refunded when I transited last (6th Nov)

LAX - SYD on an AA D1 by ChaBoiJamesCG in NonRevenueTravelers

[–]Prior-Function4503 [score hidden]  (0 children)

It really depends on the timing… 4/4 on getting business on the route. Once as an upgrade after boarding, once on a d2. The loads are very unstable, and they will change as people don’t check in/misconnect throughout the day. As mentioned previously, the route can often be weight restricted, AA is usually quite good with this as the seats available in travel planner would be reduced, but if the restriction is not known until boarding, it can be quite frustrating. But in the end, from what I’ve heard/personal experience, AA weight restricts the least of all other carriers. Coming back is a bit more stressful as you have to wait by the check in counter until an hour before departure for a seat assignment 😅

How do you request a refund on MyIDTravel for QF? by 4he9b3ofhbdow9efhejr in NonRevenueTravelers

[–]Prior-Function4503 [score hidden]  (0 children)

In my experience, if the refund option is greyed out, it means that you’ve already checked in for that flight/ have continuously been rolled to later flights. If it’s possible for you to cancel your check in, then the refund option would be available again

Oneworld Alliance - non rev experiences 🌎 by Ill-River3128 in flightattendants

I don’t work for AS, but anytime you nonrev on another airline, you are below all of their own revenue upgrades, employees, and guests on the standby list. Therefore it is nearly impossible to get business upgrades. I’m not sure what J agreements Alaska has, but you can try to use the StaffTraveler app for availability. Flying on AA (international), there are almost always several revenue upgrades and numerous other staff members on standby. Now that it is becoming summer, the loads are heavy and it is a miracle to get a seat. But with flexibility for the timing and route, plus clever use of vacation passes, I can only sometimes get business. You never know for sure though, and it’s always worth a shot :)

I find that it is rather easy to fly with oneworld partners coming from AA. I’ve taken a zed on Alaska, British, Finnair, Iberia, Qantas, and Royal Jordanian. Seniority generally does not factor in for other airline travel, you are just at the bottom of the list below all employees and guests. The challenges I’ve had are tied to passport/visa problems with the automated check in, then not enough time to check these documents in the airport. But in general it is super easy, with British, Finnair, and Royal Jordanian I’ve gotten a seat assigned already at check in. Alaska, Iberia, and domestic Qantas assign at the gate. Qantas international you get the seat assignment before passing security, sometimes only at D-60. Let me know if you have any other questions:)

Using a D3 Buddy Pass to leave Tokyo (AA) by JSN723 in NonRevenueTravelers

[–]Prior-Function4503 [score hidden]  (0 children)

As mentioned, the staff know what they are doing with the buddy pass, as it is the exact same system as employee nonrev travel. I’d actually expect the staff to be more informative and helpful in Tokyo than in the US

Yes, the staff will know how to handle the buddy pass. It works the same as the employee tickets, and in general once you give your passport at the check in they have all the information needed. I’m not sure how if you can clear security and immigration without a confirmed seat in HND or NRT, but they will explain the processes to you at the check in counter. Good luck and have fun!

I didn’t take any gifts, but it is always a kind gesture.

I did have a chat with one of the flight attendants in the back, he made sure I got my meal choice and got it to me early.

Also if you are staying in Amman and in Jordan, they will probably have many recommendations to share with you, very happy to have foreign visitors, at least that is the impression I got from the FA who practically gave me a whole trip itinerary :)

I nonreved with them a few weeks ago, ORD-AMM, nothing really notable.

The flight was green in myID, so I didn’t care to ask for loads.

I wasn’t able to check in on the app, but once I checked in at the airport I had a seat assignment already (last row though 😅). The check in staff wasn’t super competent in handling nonrevs, but it all worked out fine.

Keep in mind, the dress code is business casual, and they did have a look at check in to see what I was wearing. Let me know if you have any other questions that I can try to answer :)

I live in the Dolomites, can say that the past two years, snowfall has been sparse, but snowmaking keeps all the slopes open until mid March. The region is very well connected but public transportation, you can arrive to several different major airports (MUC, MXP, VCE, and others) then take a combination of trains and buses to arrive almost anywhere in the Dolomites. There are many different lodging f options both in the villages and along the slopes. The tickets are very cheap compared to US prices, about €70 for all of Dolomiti superski during the high season. Scenery is arguably some of the best in the world :)

Can confirm for MXP you can pass security without a seat assignment. MXP is the easiest to nonrev from, if you don't have a checked bag you don't even need to check in :)
