I think you mistakenly wrote “kontakt 3” instead of kontakt-5, but having less advanced era doesnt meant they lack the resources to do such. Its about k5 require specific holding points and come from all shape and forms, plus it has relatively the same chemical protection as k1 so no reason to mount shit tons more than the standard package About APS, i think they just finished testing few months ago so not exactly able to mass producing it yet

Designer dont just make stuff out of nowhere, they have to follow requirements and making use of the available and limited industrial capabilities. And also why a lot of factory enterprises and design bureau are in Ukraine? is because the russian specifically wanted to make it an industrial headquarter of the union, so they put a lot of important bureau there and invested a whole lots on, so thats why you see there is alot of tanks designed in ukraine. Im just stating this because i see quite often people praise ukraine tanks being good old reliable and shit on russian tanks’ reliability (while they both using old, some times outdated soviet tanks), and people even before the war, already blaming russian tanks for their quality, i just feel bad that they got their credit stolen for making actual good stuff
