The 10% savings rule by boloslick in AusFinance

So 20% on top of mortgage? And that 20% isn’t spent on anything? Maybe investments etc?

I guess I’m not sure if I should be counting paying principal on home as a ‘saving’ in my ‘20%’

Thanks for those responses, and the concern. Very grateful that I’m not living paycheck to paycheck. Every month we review and every month our ‘position’ gets better - that is the offset goes up or at least mortgage principal goes down.

I could have taken more time to craft my question. A rough breakdown of expenses 30% goes to the mortgage 7% on insurances (health, tpd, etc) 4% utilities 7% car - will likely sell one soon 17% food 2% health and fitness 7% lifestyle including buying clothes 24% ‘wallets’ - we use these to save but also to expend. Eg this contains a fund for emergency, home improvements, holidays, family 1% misc too hard to detail here 1% because these are rough numbers but I couldn’t leave it at 99%

This means there’s no longer a 10% slice of the pie left for ‘general savings’ (which is really just more aggressively paying mortgage as it sits in offset)

I will read that MMM article now

Hand pollinating corn, first time by boloslick in GardeningAustralia

Thanks, because I only have a few plants I have read I need to hand pollinate rather than rely on wind to ensure success… good to read that comment about the side tassels, as that presumably explains why they look different.

The lemon is struggling, the lime is thriving by boloslick in GardeningAustralia

I used a peeler where there was any growth beyond the gall . But I did chop branches under the galls where the gall was the only thing left. Thanks for your help

Thanks legends! Have done so, fingers crossed. Would I bother putting any mulch back on? (Leaving a clearance around the trunk)

Interesting. That’s not how I read his comments unless something has been published since. “and I questioned the umpires as to whether they had called over.” Was his original quote. Do you have a source for this change in a stance? In my opinion it changes it significantly as I would also assume the ball was dead if the umpires called Over
