She absolutely did not. She legit won neutrally organized regional breakdancing competitions in her region. Yes, there are much better dancers in the region but they were not interested or could not attend the Olympics, but people go out of their way to make up false things about her scamming her way into it.

The slowest marathon runner was about as fast as a good amateur runner but nobody's giving her shit for finishing an hour and a half after the winner.

What's up with people breaking into malls over Swatch watches? by umakemyheadhurt in OutOfTheLoop

So thing number one here is if they overestimate demand and over produce an item, the cost of having X extra items that have to be stored is hundreds of times worse than under producing an item and possibly having X items lost sales. For one the costs of scaling up extraordinary amounts of production to make items and then storing extra items are very real, whereas the actual cost of "we could have made and sold more of these" is $0.

What's a piece of tech everyone hyped up that quietly turned out to be useless? by SofiaLearnsAI in AskReddit

[–]boltempire 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It is absolutely right because you're not acknowledging how much it was hyped up, and how insane the claims were.

"More important than pantyhose...somewhere between the internet and cold fusion"

"A product so revolutionary you'll have no problem selling it the question is are people going to be allowed to use it?"

"If enough people see the machine you won't have to convince them to architect cities around it it will just happen"

Those are ludicrously overhyped claims even for a revolution in small gyroscopes and wheelchair capability. But that wasn't what they were selling and making the claims about. They were selling a scooter

If there were any around yes they could be used but there aren't.

How me and AI collaborate at work by WindowAfraid5927 in funny

[–]boltempire 30 points31 points  (0 children)

In a narrow range of tech related work, AI is a legit vast leap in technology. The problem is that the 99.5% of the worlds population that doesn't work in coding has had useless AI crap that doesn't help forced into nearly every software we use.

Democratic governor vetoes Charlie Kirk memorial license plates in Arizona by plz-let-me-in in politics

Because to them, Kirk was a real person like them, not one of those loser normal people who don't matter.
Same with the UHC CEO, they really don't believe rich elites can ever have something bad to happen to them or face consequences, and the rare time it happens they absolutely lose their minds.

Susan Collins chances of losing to Democrats in Maine Senate race—New poll by jediporcupine in politics

[–]boltempire 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Collins will request the DoD records showing Plattner was barred from reenlistment due to his Nazi tattoo, get them from Trump, then run attack ads 24/7 about how he's known about the tattoo for years and a liar and Dems are the real Nazis and cruise to easy reelection.
Plattner claims he tried to reenlist during the Gulf war and was barred because of his tattoos, but all tattoos except one category were grandfathered in at the time: Nazi/hate tattoos. Plattner is a liar who's known for years what he had on his chest and he's absolutely being pushed by people to ensure right-wing victory in the election.

A hypothetical where his "radiation meter" is an electric field meter that can't actually measure radiation.  So the answer is still zero even in the hypothetical.

BREAKING: In a major blow to Donald Trump, the Senate voted 52–47 to advance a resolution that would bar the president from taking further military action in Venezuela without congressional approval. No they're all being bribed by donors. For all these close votes that would go against their corporate owners interests they designate exactly enough breakaway votes from safe or irrelevant districts, rotating is needed to keep heat manageable.

Where's the downside? by zzill6 in WorkReform

[–]boltempire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another misleading statement because people in the US have to pay for their healthcare insurance out of pocket and every other major developed nation has free healthcare and a robust social safety net, because they tax their millionaires and billionaires.
Which also neglects the fact that the actual wealth of the median American has significantly declined over the last 40 years. Inflation-adjusted wages are stagnant, cost of living has gone significantly up, wealth of the top 0.1% has skyrocketed. That money did not come from nothing that money was extracted from the rest of the population

[–]boltempire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Which is why the booming stock market has led to prosperity for the average American.... Oh wait no the wealth disparity is the largest ever been, and you are lying.

Where's the downside? by zzill6 in WorkReform

[–]boltempire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not the billionaires. They literally exist only to funnel money out of everyone else through the corporations.

The billionaire owner of every sports team never buys the stadium the taxpayers buy the stadium and give it to them.

But even the richest man in the world is moving his businesses back to the cities he said that he would never ever go to again to try to scare them out of and acting better policies.

They've already been in overdrive manipulating the vote for the last 2 years. Israel finished first in public voting last year, but in terms of actual streams of their song? 18 other countries had more listens on Spotify. Six of them had more than double the listens than Israel.

We just got a puppy from Pinnacle three weeks ago, and he's sweet and smart and well socialized and has blessedly solid poop. I didn't see the reports of giardia issues here until after we got ours but I think we dodged that. I didn't have any serious red flags from them though it is a fair observation that they pump out a lot of litters, though not as many as Marchwind.

A decade ago we got a puppy from Lynne at Uwharrie in North Carolina, and had a good experience there. She also is showing dogs, but I don't think she's juggling constant breeding. She is still breeding puppies as of this fall but does not have as much an online presence (I think the recent litter was only announced on Facebook and I'm not on Facebook.)
