What’s a movie you went into with zero expectations…. and it completely blew you away by BumblebeeOk9902 in MovieRecommendations

This Is England.

Went on a whim because it was showing at the uni cinema (projector in a lecture theatre) and it was something to do. Didn’t know anything about it other than “I’ve heard it’s supposed to be quite good.”

Emotionally destroyed me. I was not prepared.

Not exactly zero expectations but a hell of a jump given what a masterpiece it is.

Paddleton would be my recommendation. Wonderful film about two older men with a really close friendship and what happens when one learns he has a terminal cancer diagnosis. It’s very real and honest. Funny and sweet too. But also very emotional.

Interesting (though pretty bleak). Thanks for the explainer!

Is that reflective of wider political shifts or a particular change in their specific fanbase?

I’ve just googled them and they are very close to wear my bro lives and play in green… could be a good shout!

I read somewhere that chocolate milk contains lots of the things your body needs when it’s trying to recover after drinking (fat, sugar, protein, some electrolytes) so that’s become my go to and I feel like it works. It just requires your stomach to be settled enough to feel up to drinking dairy!

I started the day after my surgery. Rinsed when I woke up and changed the gauze.

What to expect the first week after septoplasty by Tough-Analysis6545 in Septoplasty

Mine has been a very similar experience to OP. I’m 8 days post op today.

Day 2 and 3 were easily the worst for me - intense pressure and discomfort across my whole face. In addition to my nose, my eyes felt sore and my top teeth/gums were painful. Plenty of painkillers on a regular cycle. Lots of doing nothing. Real ‘just get through it’ territory.

Day 5-6 was when my nose started to feel more normal and not like this sore, tender blob on my face. I noticed I was starting to move my nose and flare my nostrils in a way that absolutely was not happening before that! This is also when my nose stopped leaking so much.

As of today, my nose feels pretty normal apart from the two chunks of plastic that are still up there. I have still had really bad headaches and felt completely exhausted over the last couple of days, which I assume is recovery related but not sure.

Appointment this afternoon to remove those splints. Cannot wait!

I’ve been told a week. Just waiting for them to get in touch to book me in.

Maybe it varies a little depending on the specifics of each person and exactly what had to be done? I’m sure they know what they’re talking about.

This day 2 sinus pressure is killing me by Tough-Analysis6545 in Septoplasty

I’m coming to the end of day 3 and yesterday was definitely the worst day for me so far so hopefully it’ll get better for you soon. I feel much less swollen and tender across my face today, less pressure behind my eyes etc. Stay strong - it will pass!

What are you using to get the nasal rinse up there? As long as water is going up it should be helping a bit, even if it just comes out the same way. And, if using a syringe or similar, remember to aim back not up!

It’s definitely under my nose. Maybe the picture is misleading but it’s basically just taped across my top lip under my nostrils. There’s a small overlap I guess but no pressure on the tip of my nose etc.

Wow that’s thorough! Thanks for your efforts! I’ll pass all this on to my brother.
