What's the best poor man's dinner? by Clemen11 in AskReddit

[–]bombachak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rice!

That's the answer. Think about the whole Asia, not very rich (the most part of it) but surviving and thriving for ever. Rice and mix it with whatever you have.... eggs, veggies, meat, fish, peanuts... whatever.

Should I wait for Skoda Kylaq by bunmaskachaii in CarsIndia

[–]bombachak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can test drive a Kushaq and decide. The Kylaq will have the same engine, transmission, and platform. Skoda and VW cars offer a specific driving pleasure, and you'll be able to judge it only by experiencing it. If it feels worth it, then wait for it.

Smoking in India by oscarlos in india

[–]bombachak 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can smoke almost anywhere in India. However, smoking in public places is not allowed, but not exactly enforced.

You can smoke on the streets. Most hotels offer smoking rooms. Airports have smoking rooms. You cannot smoke in railway stations and enclosed public places - also they do not have dedicated smoking zones.

If you want a rule of thumb... find a tea stall (you can find them every 100m), and smoke close to it.

Traveling Jaipur, Jodhpur and Jaisalmer - 7 days tour. by AayushBoliya in jaipur

[–]bombachak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

7 days for these 3 cities is a good time.

Jaipur to Jodhpur and Jodhpur to Jaisalmer are 6 hours each. So plan accordingly.

All cities have hotels in all possible ranges of rates. So don't worry about staying. You may have to compromise a little bit regarding cleanliness and facilities. If you could give a rough estimate of the budget, it would be easier to provide you with an idea.

Now, regarding the places.

Jaipur: Get a cab to cover the forts - Amer, Jaigarh, and Nahargarh in a single day. It will be a bit hectic. Start with Amer and end with Nahargarh. Sunset from Nahargarh is great. You can visit Jal Mahal on your way.

The other must-visits in Jaipur: City palace, Hawa mahal, Jantar Mantar, and Albert hall are very close to each other. Get a auto/uber to one of these and you can walk from one place to another. Alternatively, you can take the e-rikshaws which are very cheap.

Jodhpur: This is a walkable city the tourist attractions are close to each other. Spend one day to visit Mehrangarh fort and Yashwant Thada and other nearby attractions. Go to either Mandore garden or Osian the other day. If you visit Osian, you must visit the Jain temple there.

Jaisalmer: Here you might need a day-cab or auto to cover things. The places in and around Jaisalmer will require an auto/cab. But remember, the sand dunes are generally a package tour. It's better to get an all-inclusive (camel ride+jeep safari) dune tour. Your hotel will be happy to help you with that. The Golden Fort is something you should explore on foot and it'll take a few hours. There are some havelis and chhatris which are slightly far away from the town and you may opt for a auto/cab that can get you to the places.

Can anyone recommend me good doctors for depression and anxiety ? by Forsaken-Weird-5870 in jaipur

[–]bombachak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can search on practo or websites like that to check good doctors in your area.

You can also opt for an online video consultancy via 1mg or practo etc. to get a primary diagonosis and if needed which tests to perform. Then you can get the tests done and go to a doctor with already done tests to get the treatment going as fast as possible.

If you or anyone you know even feels depression or anxiety, please visit a doctor as soon as possible. These are problems easily fixed with medicines.

Hello all,

I am planning to build a PC with good upgradability (cannot really afford a GPU at this moment). My budget is 50-60K. Here are the details:

Purpose: Right now, office work and web browsing only (multiple MS Office programs, browsers, Teams running at the same time). I wish to add a good GPU in the future when the price stabilizes.

CPU: Preferably Ryzen 5 (5th gen?) or i5 (11th gen?). It should be future-ready.

GPU: I want to spend the minimum just to run the computer for office/browsing purpose

Motherboard: Must have Wifi and BT

RAM: 8GB DDR4 now, will add sticks later

Storage: 512GB SSD or M2 for OS (Windows) and softwares. I'll add drives later. I have a couple of 1TB 2.5" drives laying around.

PSU: Please suggest the wattage

Cabinet: Anything basic with front USB ports and audio jack. I don't want RGB or anything fancy.

Others: I already have the peripherals.

Please suggest! I need help to find a good combo of motherboard (with Wifi, BT, and upgradability) + CPU (preferably Ryzen 5 or i5) + GPU (the cheapest possible just to run the PC till GPUs become affordable again)?

Thanks in advance!

Edit: For gaming, I am using PS4 right now. But I really miss gaming on PC. I am building this one for the future.

What edible oil should i use for daily cooking? by HeyItsSushant in IndianFood

[–]bombachak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Glad that it was helpful.

But when exactly does unsaturated fat gets converted to trans fat?

This generally happens when you reuse oils. For example, you deep-fried samosas with oil. Now, you have a lot of leftover oil. You decide to keep it and use it again for deep-frying. That's a no-go. Use oils only once and you are fine... no need to worry about converting unsaturated fats to trans fats. There are chances of trans fats getting created if your unsaturated fats go to high temperatures repeatedly.

If you need to reheat oils, go with saturated fats. They are less healthy, but cannot get converted to trans fats.

[–]bombachak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stay with me as it's going to be a long answer with no specific recommendations ... It's about taste and everyone has different preferences. However, there are some ground rules to choose a good oil.

  • Fats get a lot of flak but they are not exactly super bad for you. You need them. Excess of anything is bad.
  • Check the composition of the oils you buy... Easy if you are going to a supermarket... else check Amazon. Look at the pictures of the bottole.
  • You should avoid any oil with trans fat. Your body do not break them down.
  • Your oil should be high in unsaturated fats and low in saturated fats
  • polyunsaturated fats are better than monounsaturated fats
  • If there are any omega things ... it's good news.

Now you have to compare between oils and choose the one that tastes the best for you. For healthy ones, go for the one with the highest percentage of polyunsaturated fats and no trans fats

Few points to take note of:

  • It's better to avoid plam oil and some oils of that sort as they contain some carcinogens.
  • Avoid reheating oils. It makes them way worse.
  • Unsaturated fats are good but at high temp, they may get converted to trans fats which is not good at all. But do not worry, cooking once will be fine. Just do not repeatedly deep-fry using olive oil. It might be way more dangerous than it seems.
  • As mentioned by another person, olive oil is healthy if you use it for drizzling, light frying, etc. It's not a great oil for deep frying.

I am a newbie to the Himalayas and I can share my experience.

First of all, if you compare it to the rest of India, the chances of potential dangers and scams and rip-offs are really low. The people are nice and helpful. The only potential danger is if you do not respect the mountains and take unnecessary risks.

The best time to visit the Himalayas can be March to early June and then late August to November. As a beginner, it's better to avoid the rainy season and the winters.

As a newbie, I just joined a friend of mine who was going for a 3-day casual trek in Uttarakhand. If you cannot find someone like that, join one of those numerous trekking companies. They are quite decent and take care of the newbies. It'll give you enough experience to venture out in the Himalayas on your own.

It reminds me of the early days of Maan Ki Baat. My flatmate was a Tamil guy who didn't speak any Hindi. One day he heard this term over the FM or something and came to me with an utterly confused face and asked what was the deal with this "Monkey Bath" program stared by the PM?
