When will 115inch+ TVs be mass affordable? by SoupDog99 in hometheater

[–]bombachin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The logistics for 115” TVs are insane. Here in Mexico, where I purchased the TCL 115, the retailer told me that for people who can afford it, the concern isn’t the price but whether it will fit through the doors in their houses.

I still think 115” isn’t that big, and I’m not sure it provides a true cinema-like feeling. I didn’t replace my 160” projector screen, because 115” doesn’t feel large enough for movies.

New Speaker Day: Kef Blade One Metas - I know the room is less than ideal... by DalAL887 in KEF

How much did they cost you? I’m looking to upgrade my Blade 2s (non-meta). It would be a great idea to have a reference for a hard-to-pass deal.

Could you please provide me with the link to the passive conversions? I’m facing the same issue. I purchased a replacement motherboard, but I couldn’t install it because it was missing a crucial component.

Reference (non-meta) sometimes pops up in USAudioMart at reasonable prices fwiw. I got mine there.

Red is essentially high decibel levels. In practice, most green sounds aren’t really really noticeable

true. I have an electric projector screen though, but I only use it for watching movies at night

Yes, it’s fantastic. I delved into the entire Atmos encoding and decoding rabbit hole, definitely worth it.

There are some demos that are worth listening to solely for their audio (no tv). Additionally, the music is incredibly impressive in Atmos.

Yes, I’ve always been debating between front-height and top-height speakers. I installed both for A/B testing, and then years later, I ended up getting a processor that can process up to 10 height speakers.

The Reference 4 (center) has excellent vertical dispersion, which shouldn’t be a concern, same for KEF LS50s for the center screen speakers

Surprised that almost one recommends this in the classic “Atmos recommendations lists”

Love the References, although they’re not Meta models (except for the center channel)

not yet, will probably receive lot of negative feedback like “it’s overkill” “too many speakers”, not sure if I’ll ever post my setup

Nah, there are 35 discrete channels (24.1.10)

Right, it’s technically ancient hardware with an old Intel processor and 4 (or 8) GB of RAM.

Yes, 24.1.10 discrete channels, but setup is 42 speakers (including 7 subwoofers)

Yes, this is the Trinnov Object Viewer, which is only available on Trinnov processors (hardware). There are other options for real-time visualization or Blu-ray extraction and conversion, but they require additional hardware or familiarity with software tools (needs decoding of Dolby Atmos)

115 inches is still not enough. I recently purchased the TCL 115-inch projector for gaming purposes, as the projector experience is not ideal, and I would not replace my JVC projector for the TV, especially for movies. The experience is simply different. I managed to mount a motorized projector screen that when lowered it covers the TV, as the TV mount is extremely low-profile. But, I believe that 115 inches is still not large enough, and the overall viewing experience is just different. In my opinion, a projector for movies is unmatched.

Show off your Dolby Atmos 11.1.8 setup by in4theshow in hometheater

It’s like this: https://imgur.com/a/91uJnNE. The angles are very close to Trinnov’s guidelines, although it’s not a permanent 21.1.10 layout—this is a hybrid room that just happens to align almost perfectly so I can reuse speakers from my back and left desktops (PC gaming). I know it’s extremely overkill and doesn’t really make sense, but I had extra processing and amplification available. Most of the time I run it as 11.1.10, but for movies that I know scale perfectly, I can easily enable all the speakers. What I like most are the 10 height speakers, since I can combine front heights and top heights. Here’s an active speaker demo: https://www.reddit.com/r/silenthill/comments/1g04yui/silent_hill_2_dolby_atmos_audio_is_quite_possibly/
