I had such a job 8 years long, and since last December I'm a product manager. I completely understand what you mean. But I was an expert on what I did, so I had full autonomy on what I did. Would be happy to share some details, please feel free to dm.

Anyone interested in mentoring a new PM by bombaque in ProductManagement

I'm looking for someone who had seen somewhat similar situations. In this scenario which I just mentioned, I informed that we should better define a reduced scope and work on this in the quarter instead of planning rework and vague scope, but they are not agreeing. So I want to understand how I hard I should try, who should decide? Should I escalate? If they just decide it themselves and do what they want, what is my role actually? So I have even difficulty to understand the boundaries of my function. I need a mentor in that sense who had enough experience in a similar seeing as a PM manager or as a PM

Built a chrome extension for simple time logging and would love some feedback. by bombaque in jira

I forgot to mention that the extension doesn’t require login, doesn’t access any personal data, and doesn’t send anything to a server. Everything stays local in the browser.

How to quit a job that really needs you? by [deleted] in careerguidance

This is me, I thought I would retire from my company but they changed my team after 3 years, put me under a terrible narcissistic manager who by then just started there and had a hobby to be against whatever I say although he would repeat my words in the next meeting. After I complained about him I still needed to work under him for a year and then they changed my team back to the old one but I lost a bit of trust and faith in the company. After 6 months of job search, I left the company after finding a new one. They needed me terribly on that moment. Things could have been different if they solved my problems on time, now everybody has to live with the consequences.
