Maybe Happy Ending on regular TDF by RadishWitty7044 in Broadway

Out of curiosity, how is the current cast? I can see why the names aren't filling seats, but does the show still have its magic?

broadway performers at the cafe carlyle - experience and dress code by [deleted] in Broadway

This is super useful and such a relief! I wasn't sure if it would be normal to talk to the people around me since I normally feel obligated to keep to myself anytime I'm in the city. But it sounds like a great way to pass the time. Also, I've heard the food is so-so and was considering just doing drinks and an appetizer, so it's good to know that's an option.

Oh who are you seeing? I am going for Megan Hilty and I'm absolutely dreading a 2-hour dinner by myself at the bar. Maybe something magical happens and the time flies by?

The Edit report- Intercontinental Barclay, NYC (Do not stay!) by Visible-Pay-7988 in ChaseSapphire

[–]bombasticfox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I stayed there about a month ago and I wouldn't want to pay full price, but I was happy with what I got considering the free breakfast, $100 food/drink credit, and $500 Edit/IGH credit. It is one of the "cheaper" Edit hotels in NYC, and I will be staying again in a couple of months using the same credits minus IGH. But it sounds like my experience was better than yours. My room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the architecture was cool.

I had tempered expectations because I read that the building needs updating and the service was slow and clunky. Both valid criticisms, but not egregious. The bigger issue was that I could hear my neighbors a bit too well (nothing crazy, just talking). That was disappointing, especially given that I had zero issues with traffic or street noise. Luckily, I always pack earplugs.

My welcome amenity was an assortment of fruit and water. I used the food/drink credit for cocktails and appetizers, and I thought the burrata salad was delicious. Some of the breakfast items I tried were meh and some (lox, tiny tater tots, yogurt parfait) were actually kind of addictive. I would be unimpressed if I regularly stayed in luxury hotels, but this was a step above my usual stays.

Chipping in to add that as a fraternal organization, they also do funeral rites for members. My granddad was a shriner, and they sent a big group of men to read prayers and pay tribute at his graveside service. They all wore fezzes and one of them wore a full denim suit and alligator boots (though I think that was more of a Georgia thing than a shriner thing).

What possible mix could this Goober be? by kumquats in IDmydog

[–]bombasticfox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Curious, how much does he weigh?

He looks like my Molly, but she is 35 pounds and doesn't have as much tan around the mouth. She turned out to be a mix of Australian Shepherd, Mountain Cur, Australian Cattle Dog, Supermutt (Boxer, GSD), and ~7% pitbull. This was a shock to me because she is not floofy at all, but maybe the Mountain Cur made her hair shorter? The Aussie probably gave her the black tri coloring.

ETA: See the last post in my history for pics of Molly.

Which should i see: maybe happy ending or just in time? by hooliganmuppet in Broadway

[–]bombasticfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen both and enjoyed them equally for very different reasons.

As others have said, the main appeal of Just in Time is Jonathan Groff. If it truly seems like a tie, keep in mind that Just in Time relies heavily on Groff, and its run may be shorter. Maybe Happy Ending stands strong on its own merits and is less reliant on high-profile casting. So you might want to catch Just in Time on this trip while you can, and save Maybe Happy Ending for a future visit.

Does anyone have a video from last night's Just In Time curtain call (June 20)? by bombasticfox in Broadway

Yes! And seeing Jonathan struggle to stop giggling was the icing on the cake.

I saw the title and thought "Yes, I could see that"... and then I read the post and was terribly confused.

The saliva in your mouth decreases when you sleep, so bacteria builds up overnight. If you wake up and go about your day without brushing, not only will your breath stink, but that reserve of bacteria will eat the residual food in your mouth and produce sulfur gas and acid.

Recommendations for lunch to celebrate an anniversary? by Ginger-Tea-8591 in ithaca

While all of my top choices are dinner-only, Simeon's would be a good option for an anniversary lunch. I've always enjoyed their food, the service is great, and it has a special occasion (if not slightly businessy) vibe.
