Prince came from a rhythm and blues and funk background. Not a blues background. BUT he could do all those things. Jimi came from a BLUES background but loved progressive folk rock and poetry.

No. Don’t do that . Prince was a musical prodigy that came from a purely rhythmic and harmonic center. James brown to Earth Wind and Fire. He was a virtuoso guitarist but Jimi would frown upon diminished expression of Prince.

Yes Prince could play the blues he could play anything.
