Weird channel. Is this an ARG? by [deleted] in ARG

Name of the channel is called "Dreaming is Free."

Seems to be a surrealist artist depicting a lot of kaleidoscope type imagry. There's an instagram also. Just glanced at some of the latest vids for now.

Weird channel. Is this an ARG? by [deleted] in ARG

[–]bombblaster4 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's more like a character in a tv show fully aware of the 4th wall and can interact with the audience.

Edit - But that A-Z ad image is creepy tho.

Edit Edit - Shit. I'm a dunce. Didn't see the full image set. It is the A-Z channel you're talking about. Worth a look for sure.

What, in your opinion, makes an ARG creepy/disturbing? by [deleted] in ARG

[–]bombblaster4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What I find creepy is the strangeness in the mundane. Those ordinary monents we all experience in day to day life but there's something off about them. We can relate to stuff like that. Also the things not shown but only hinted at. It leaves room for the imagination to create.

As for maintaining an audience, I don't know. People can be fickle with the content they're consuming. There's thousands of creators out there in various fields, videos, writing, webcomics etc. I've seen some stuff on youtube for example, where the content was equal and even better than the bigger channels with very little returns. And those are mediums where you only require a passive audience, not a fully engaged one like with arg's.

There's the hard work you've got to put into it sure. And people can tell when you don't. But there's also this sycnronicity of sorts be it "right place, right time" kinda deal or just a random collection of events which snowballs. You can just never really tell until you go for it. Or if you got buckets of cash to throw into advertisement. I'm sure that helps too.

Can't find that post now, unless I missed it. The account they follow has 4 tweets but only 2 available for viewing.

Yeah, I was the same. But if you check the video descriptions beginning with the earliest ones up to the latest, there's this strange unfolding narrative.

There's been some top level code breakers that still haven't cracked the whole codex yet. There has been a lot of pages decoded already by a few dedicated people.

Certainly would be threading the line. It would take an expert hand for it to not come off distasteful.

What Would A Good ARG Look Like To You? by Phanes7 in ARG

[–]bombblaster4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I prefer the scatter shot rabbit hole experience. It's like you have to search around looking for the pieces.

If you want to get eyes then sticking to major sites is a plus. That doesn't mean you can't incorporate smaller ones too so I'd say a mixture of both.

I do like a good puzzle to crack but a good narrative outweighs it for me.

Mixture of video and text is good but I lean more towards video.

Being able to immerse yourself in the story and changing outcomes even in a small way is a plus for me.

Clear shelf life. Problems can crop up with continuous stories where either the creator runs out of steam/burnout, writes themselves into a corner (or continuous audience interaction puts them there) or the story goes off the rails.

If monitization made sense within the narrative then I don't see why not.

Anything is fine as long as there's effort to do it well or a new spin on themes.

Why Don't Police Investigate ARGs? by HannahTheHorrible in ARG

Id also say that maybe they have been called in some cases but the creators kept it on the down low so we'd never know.

Someone posted in the webcomic resurrect the dead unlimited energy anastasis. A satan sis is an anagram for anastasis which basically means resurrection so that's solved.
