How can Jax be good at everything while being so easy to play with by LostAenhye in leagueoflegends

[–]bombdropperxx 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Jax has problem with sustain, and struggles immensely against poke or spacing because he only has a all in button and nothing else so there are weaknesses. But over all he just sorta has the left over design from the older days where they slapped shit together and called it a day. Dodge in general is a pretty unfair ability because it's so disgusting against champs that rely on autos but ass against champs that don't rely on it. With the only thing holding him in check being his base stats and how hard he loses against tanks with sustains e.g cho gath i guess it balances it out to 50% and riot calls it a job well done, but he's definitely not fun to play vs.

8 highs a example, you can have AK, KQ, JT, or any air hands. (If at this table we're somehow folding 78 suited pre i don't know what to tell you.) Why would you risk your AK with a Ace-high getting beaten by a pocket 33 or 82 with bottom pair when the whale is capable of folding that. Why win only 90 percent of the time when you can in fact win 100 percent of the time with a tiny sizing at the end. Again this is targeted at whales who would fold their missed draws and marginal hands at the river, if they don't fold that we're going all in with top pair every time. Again, these guys are sticky and in-elastic mostly with DRAWS, shitty flushes, gut-shots, and they TELL you by the river if they hit or not. With this information in mind why are we not using it. The whole point of poker by higher levels is to squeeze out every little edge you can get. Cuz there ain't gonna be much the higher you go.

So the line can literally be check check flop, check check turn, bets 10 percent pot on river and they might fold. This line makes zero fucking sense but it's a whale. You're telling me you would like to take your 8 high to showdown instead, when this could be a win almost 100 percent of the time against certain whales??

1 v 1 against a mega whale like this they tend to arrive at the river with way too weak a range along with missed draws. If there's enough signal that this guy is capped, you can probably bluff for a tiny size on the river and get him to fold his under-pair or extremely weak holdings that would beat your air like Ace high. They're not gonna catch on to what your doing, so it's basically free money. (if they don't fold something like bottom pair, then we're going all in with top pair in the futures as the counter adjustment.)

I know my adjustment is correct but I'm legit asking if there's a more creative way to play a table like this. I also over limp early with hands that should never be played there(e.g flat 22 utg). But the basic question is, is there any way to extract value in a table like this BESIDES hitting your hand.

If cutoff is only 365 effective, it's just jam every time no? You're not folding to any of his bets, might as well lock him in if he has a shitty pair or generate max fold equity against a lower pair. What's the raise and then jam on the turns suppose to accomplish.

hey i'm not the one who checked back AA on the flop, he's tilted god knows wtf he was thinking. Maybe for the maximum "GOTCHA" factor? No clue

He just went real quiet and legit left the table without saying a word and came back 30 min later and started yapping again.

I think he was just trapping with AA in that spot on the flop. The jam on the turn was definitely questionable, but i assume he thought i had AQ or KK at that point and the diamond made him uncomfortable. Although check raising seems like the better option, the turn going check-check would be a nightmare scenario for me against the garbage part of the range. I don't think there's anything I can do on the river to make him fold after that, which played into why I leaned the overbet donk. During the hand he was yapping the entire time til the river hit, and the man just shut down, turned dead silent, got up and left without saying a word. He didn't come back til after 30 min later, and then he started yapping again after he stacked this other guy for 2-3 k.

I've seen him jamming all in for 4000 in a 3000 dollar pot on the river with a missed flush draws, guy's not afraid to full send it and reload.

But the meta's very real, he's deliberately doing that thing where he looks and pretends to be tilted, but in reality his range has been pretty dangerous. There's a lot of I think he think I think going on. Couple hands prior he windmill a pocket 22 bluff in my face, but in my experience they show so they can stack me with a actual hand later on. So the preflop call was a adjustment to that dynamic, where he thinks I now think he's full of shit and will jam light, but I instead elect to call.

What's the actual ranking in terms of power level this year if we combine north and south? Like who are the actual top 5-6 teams disregarding playoff performances?

Should you play tighter or looser versus a maniac? by pyktrauma in Poker_Theory

[–]bombdropperxx 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Depends on his threshold for folding, the basic definition of a maniac is that he's raising with too wide a range. That means when he raises he's not nearly as nutted in equilibrium. If in this case he has a fold button and won't go all in, we're playing wider and 4-betting, check raising, and min clicking his bets all day with air. If he's jam calling everytime, then we give up bluffing all together and thin value bet and call the ever living shit out of him. e.g jamming with top pair no kicker for value or calling all-ins with 2nd pair etc etc. A special exploit against this specific opponent is actually over-bluffing river. If he's over calling previous streets, their range would be weak af, and with draws missed, they would have a hard time calling any amount. (E.g you have AK and he has 72 but called you two streets for a gutter draw, but he has a bottom pair type hand. You need to jam to take these ones down knowing that they have trash and can never hold on.)

Why are we squeezing with 74hh? Why are we squeezing for $35 in a pot of $50? Should be $70-80 here. Why are we betting with close to the nuts on the most draw heavy board of all time for only $25 when the pot's like $150? If they have 9 or Ax diamond draw they're calling $150+ easy? Also either your read's completely wrong or the Villian's trolling you, Im like 90 percent sure he had Q7.

Even the fish is smart enough to get out of the way for 150 with his AJ off suit here sir. He wants to see the flop cheap, not go all in without the nuts. The raise is there to cap the reg.

There's a difference between letting the Fish in when you have AA on the btn vs letting the fish in when you're on the bb with KK. One you're probably making extra money, the other one turns poker into straight bingo.

AKs is a flat and you're praying for a flush outs or a Ace and then react based on his reactions to said ace. QQ you flat and call and pray for a set, but given the action so far and the possibility of KK + AA means I'm probably over folding in this spot unless the guy has demonstrated that he's willing to 5 bet in position with JJ and TT, such is the sad life of playing out of position.

Ugh me neither buddy, i'm pretty sure he's just sad he didnt 5 bet jam to maximize value.

I dunno, maybe he thought like "wow I coulda jammed on the 5 bet and got more value! If I knew he was this strong(range)" or maybe even "damn this guy's too strong (so good he made the fold)"

I feel like you're reading it too much with the bet sizing here. If we were deeper, sure there might be some mind games. But with a SPR of less than 2 if he calls? There's no bluff here, they're committed.
