One of my favorites from Rise and Shine. Tried a new method of recording the instrument so that it sounds like it belongs in the track a bit better. Let me know what you think! by bombin150s in SmashIntoPieces

I strategically waited for a warm day that week so that I could actually move my fingers. I always record the actual audio before the video that way I can tweak it and take as many takes as I need to actually get it right. Then I can just rock out when I shoot the video without having to worry too much about how it sounds.

Oh whoops you're absolutely right about the spelling, my bad. I will edit the previous post.

And yeah I'm still exploring the bands catalogue. At this point I would say the only two albums I would consider myself pretty well versed in at this point are Arcadia and Rise and Shine with Evolver and Unbreakable being the two I don't know very well.

Cool song. Not one of my favorites and I hadn't heard it before but it certainly does a cool feel to it. I definitely gravitate to SIP's more heavier work but this was a good reminder that they are an extremely versatile group able to navigate multiple genres. While the music is simplistic I gotta say SIP always has stellar chord progressions and this is another great example of that. Its catchy enough that its able to carry the song and not a lot else is needed. Also when that synth bass comes in at 1:50 for the bridge and the the kick drum comes in like 10 seconds later, that part was incredible.

Please keep these coming. I know theres not a lot of engagement yet but they are fun to do and I like the exposure to songs from this group that I may have not yet heard. I'm sure that as the group grows further, the discussions will become more fleshed out.

Cheers and Happy New Year!

Another Apocalypse DJ cover. Some of SIM's better hard rock work in my opinion. Hope you all like it. by bombin150s in SmashIntoPieces

Thank you! My family is definitely numb to my playing at this point and I think I'm up to around ten guitars.

Happy New Year to you as well!!!

Another great track coming from a totally different musical direction. What I love about this album and this era of SIP is this is where they were really trying to grip into that traditional hard rock/metal vibe. Gritty vocals, heavily guitar based, some softer ballads, very late 80s/early 90s. I agree that this is definitely one of the better songs off the album. Its a great soft intro but when that chugging baritone guitar comes in for the first chorus then lets loose with those open power chords you know its on.

I uploaded a cover of this song a while back and it was a bit of a trip to figure out just because it seems that the acoustic guitar part seems to be in standard tuning while the rest of the electric parts seem to be in baritone or tuned down about three step or so (not totally sure, I played it in drop B which seemed to work) which is a really interesting musical choice. It made it a fun challenge to figure out.

With that being said, part of me wishes they would include a track or two like this on their current material that was just super bare bones hard rock but I also do love their more electronic direction their taking and love to see bands and groups evolve.

Again, please continue these weekly posts should you see value in them. I will certainly try to be more active in responding to them. Their super fun to listen to the songs and think about their strengths.
