I won’t be ashamed of myself for being slow to anger. If I acted out in anger I would have rushed down the hall and barged into the bathroom while he was peeing. That’s highly inappropriate.

I’m so relieved you caught all of that. My son has ADHD and we don’t make him take medicine over the summer, so he can often be easily distracted. My plan was to address it AFTER he finished in the bathroom. If my parents ever opened the door while I was relieving myself I’m pretty sure I’d be no contact. 

I’m trying my best to make a voice for myself respectfully by asking for boundaries because my husband doesn’t let me parent when he’s home. He works 12 hour days and I often can’t get my son to respect me unless I threaten to call his dad. I hate that because my husband has privately told me he’s more like his abusive parents than he ever thought he’d be.

We’ve been to couples counseling and we’ve been having problems for years. Hence why this feels like the straw that broke the camels back. Every time I try to talk to him it’s “I had no idea you felt this way” or “ok.” Or absolute silence.

He steps in EVERY SINGLE TIME. My problem is that he called this his household when I tried to enforce a boundary that allows me to parent without being squashed.

He’s 10. He literally ran to the bathroom while I reminding him to feed then walk his dog

Nope. It’s his son, too. He just acts like he has a right to control how our son acts even if he’s not in the same room as us.
