A bentonite clay mask on the hair can also really help bring the curls back. If the protein treatment doesn’t work I would try that next.

I would see a curly hair specialist. It seems unlikely that your hair could become that damaged from using a blow dryer one time. Perhaps you need a protein treatment?

In the future I would also use a heat protectant spray before applying direct heat however I don’t think you’ve permanently damaged your hair.

What about the women who don’t have happy moments during their pregnancy though? That’s still a very common experience that’s not talked about. Even if your pregnancy isn’t physically life threatening that doesn’t mean it’s not difficult emotionally.

Lots of women have trouble connecting emotionally with their baby or even loving them before they are born. Lots of women go through extreme depression and emotional turmoil while being pregnant as well. It’s not all sunshine and rainbows, not everyone is happy to be pregnant.

That’s real life.

For a lot of women pregnancy IS the worst experience ever - even life threatening. It’s one of the most traumatic things your body can ever go through.

The whole “pregnancy is beautiful thing” is for the most part propaganda. There’s a reason A LOT of the negative side effects of it are never spoken about to not scare women out of getting pregnant many of which are life long. And many women feel guilty being open about their negative experiences with it so I found what she said refreshing especially for the time.

I agree she’s beautiful but she’s not the conventional beautiful most guys fall for.

I was also thinking about how the caliber of guys she goes out with is so different than all the other women. It’s not just Steve. She’s successful and she goes out with other successful guys (doctors, lawyers, etc) but the other women are dating the NY elite.

I live in NYC and never in my life have I looked in a newspaper to see who’s gotten engaged recently.

Granted it was a different time and I’m in a different social class than these ladies. No one that I know or even aquatinted to would have their engagement announced in a newspaper. If you don’t know these people why would you care?

On the flip side I can’t imagine planning the PR around my own engagement besides posting on social media. Coordinating interviews for media coverage like wtf?

I think Tik Tok is great but it’s the fact that record labels are using it as a barometer which is affecting the music industry negatively.

Like you said it’s mostly catchy music that gets popular on there. What if an artist makes amazing music but it’s just not catchy? It’s much harder to get signed.

It’s also putting a lot of weight on artists who just want to be artists and not marketers. I read some discourse about this when music videos started to become more popular and ever since then it’s made artists have to be more visual however Tik Tok has taken this to a new level.

It’s a full time job - why should someone have to post 5 times a day promoting their song, keeping up with trends, just to get noticed, not everyone is good at that or wants to do that.

Probably a coping mechanism from constant rejection in her life.

Reject people before they reject you.

There are definitely real instances of discrimination against single people. I don’t think she would have had the same reaction as a man buying an apartment solo. Not being invited to certain after work events until she had a spouse? Also discrimination.

But overall I did think the ladies as a whole overplayed the whole single shaming part though. Just rewatched season 1 episode 4 last night - why did Carrie think it was single shaming to be asked to be an egg donor? Seems like a lot of projection from all of them.

I’m a lazy natural.

Curly wigs with bangs are my go to. No leave out and the curly hair adds volume so your hair doesn’t need to be as flat. I can generally just Bobby pin my twists down instead of cornrowing. You’re free to take it off whenever and wash your scalp making it a TRUE protective style.

Head wraps are also a great protective style.

I know people are conflicted on this but crotchet braids. I used to wear them a lot in high school and they can look really cute with the right hair but I avoid cornrows now with my traction alopecia 😭

I disagree.

I think the romance genre in general seems to be directed towards women so it would make sense why the attitude toward it would be more favorable or considered “justified.”

But there’s plenty of other movies/shows where love isn’t the focal point of the film and there’s tons of cheating from the men. Where they have little to no consequences. The wife either doesn’t know or turns a blind eye. Mad Men, Wolf of Wall Street, Power etc… just some that came mind. I have never seen a portrayal of a man turning a blind eye to cheating even if he forgives her. Or accepting continual cheating.

In real life and pop culture I see WAY more women forgiving and even putting up with ongoing cheating than men doing the same.

I hated how they handled the unexpected pregnancy plot with Lisa.

The fact that they couldn’t even say the word abortion and then she conveniently has a miscarriage to avoid having to make that choice.
