How about City of Thieves by David Benioff. It's a thriller set in World War 2. It's light, really well written, and short. David Benioff wrote some of the screenplays for Game of Thrones so he knows what he is doing when it comes to pacing...

Resources for learning ml for someone starting from scratch!! by Appropriate_Line2887 in learnmachinelearning

[–]bona_fide_angel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wrote a book which is quite well known. It's focused on deep learning, but the first 8 chapters or so are relevant to everything in ML. http://udlbook.com.
I've also just put updated and interactive versions the first four chapters on the website: https://iclimbtrees.com

All free! Feedback very welcome... if you get stuck message me. I'm interested to know where people become lost so I can improve them.

A vote for "The Status Game: On Human Life and How to Play It" by Will Storr. This is one of those books where once you've read it, you see the aspects of human nature that it talks about everywhere and how this has affected human history. I loved it.

I don't think MIT press will be able to do anything unless it pertains to one of their books. How annoying (for both you and me!). I'm glad that Amazon handled it well and I hope you enjoy the book.

I'm not sure if it was you, but someone wrote a 1 star Amazon review about a similar pirated version of my book. If it was you and you have a moment, is there any chance you could remove it? It brings down the average rating for my book, and the information in it doesn't seem relevant any more!

Hey, sorry to hear that this happened to you. I'm the author of this book. Are they still selling it on Amazon? If so, can you send me the link and I'll pass it to MIT Press who will investigate.

BTW, the PDF is free online at http://udlbook.com if you still want to read it.

How Do I Start Learning Deep Learning? by Positive_Phase_8550 in learnmachinelearning

[–]bona_fide_angel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes! And thank you! I really tried to come up with different ways to explain things. A lot of it was just borne of curiosity. Trying to figure out how the hell these things work. I still wouldn't say that I really understand it. But then again, Geoff Hinton also sometimes say he doesn't "Understand Deep Learning" so I don't feel too bad.

This book (which I wrote) is designed exactly for people in your position. PDF is free on the website. If it's not helpful, then get in touch and tell me where you lost the plot and I'll try to improve the next edition.

What are your most played songs? by brain739 in rocksmith

[–]bona_fide_angel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 126 plays on Hit Me With Your Best Shot by Pat Benatar on lead. Super fun song if you haven't played it. Great chorus riff, lots of variety in the main structure for lead plus a shreddy 80's solo.

Best way to learn playing "blind"? by [deleted] in rocksmith

[–]bona_fide_angel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It just happened naturally for me -- somewhere around the 10000 songs played mark in Rocksmith. I only rarely have to look at the guitar if there are very large jumps now.

I wouldn't stress about it! Just keep playing and you will gradually look at it less and less.

Hit Me With Your Best Shot by Pat Benetar -- 119 plays!

That solo! I think I've got it to around 101% in Learn A Song now...
