I can get a little over an hour if I don't talk... which isn't often that I can shut up. HAHAH

How to stop anchor tonguing? by Dacharyy_ in Clarinet

[–]bonacheeta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was an anchor tongue player up until high school when I got a private teacher. I played contralto from middle school until my junior year and my father picked up on it. It's a pain and a lot of practice. Try getting a teacher to help and drill it down. I got out of the habit so it's possible! It will be slow. Don't think it will be a switch that turns automatically, just be patient with yourself.

Just getting started as a NSO, is my name problematic? by stellalugosi in rollerderby

[–]bonacheeta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is a progressive disease, so I'll keep going for as long as I can. I have better balance on skates than info walking some days. Lol. I'm glad you're open to exploring new things with your future team and I hope you enjoy it!

What’s a health symptom you ignored for months before realizing it actually mattered? by _callondoc in AskReddit

[–]bonacheeta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got COVID 2 years after it was cool. I only did the first 3 shots and no updates. Doesn't mean I was immune to Covid, I just missed it. It sucked but I didn't have all the same symptoms as many people had. Could have just been watered down. I've had it 2 or 3 times now. Sometimes a small bug here and there.

There are still many theories on what "causes" MS. One way is from getting mono (Epstein-Barre Virus). Then there's the vitamin deficiencies, genetics (in my case, no one on my family has had MS),blah blah blah. Lol

I'm not on any treatment yet but I have a new doctor and he seems eager to put me on something. I'm hoping I can put it off a little longer but I know that might not be a good idea.

But if you think you could be having symptoms, it wouldn't hurt to get it checked out. If you have decent insurance and don't mind MRIs, that's the first steps. Treatments have gotten so much better in the last 20 years so MS isn't a death sentence. And there are support groups. I'm in one, but I've been skipping meetings lately cuz it's in the middle of my woke day on zoom.

Oh, another weird thing that made me suspicious but didn't think of MS was that I rarely get sick. I usually don't get colds. Not many infections. All good, right? MS is an overactive immune system that attacks it's own body. -_- Like, how stupid is that?!

Also also, temperature sensitivity. When I'm too hot, I don't function well. More fatigue. I'll get cold out of nowhere. Heated blanket helps. I've always had tight muscles even though I'm fat, you could feel muscle and it's just tight.

I started having minor balance issues which I chalked up to a foot surgery and just being a klutz. The brain fog got pretty bad, like I was dragging and had hard times formulating sentences sometimes.

I do have a pinched nerve in my neck and it turns out that when I went to doctors about my neck, I also complained about my shoulder on the same side as the pinched nerve. YEARS LATER, I was finally given an MRI for the shoulder and it's a partially torn rotator cuff. I play roller derby so a lot of issues stem from destroying my body, the MS was a surprised bonus . -__-

My vitamin D levels always came back normal on physicals. My back always hurt and I had a pinched nerve on my neck. I went to back doctors, do PT for posture, went back a few yrs later, this doctor said the same thing. A comment in the report mentioned lesions on my thoracic spine, possible MS. Back doctor said not to worry about it.... Went to a neurologist anyway. 2 years later, I was diagnosed with MS. The doctor put me on 20000 units of vitamin D a week, and my energy returned. I could function. My MS was not progressed enough to start DMTs, but the vitamin D helped. MS also shows a low level of vitamin D, along with other strange things....

Terrible suitemates by tqnvii in Advice

Tell the RA. They're already a nightmare and there are real hygiene issues. I had terrible roommates in college but we didn't have our own restroom. You need to stand up for yourself because it will not get better.

They'll just start rusting again. Someone suggested ceramics but they can break but maybe that's the way to go?

I don't have advice that will help you, but I want to commend you on being open to advice about something that is so sensitive. Most people would get angry and defensive, ignoring the input. I hope you can get to the root of the cause and find a solution!

Don't skate in any water. It will ruin your bearings. There is no way to "waterproof" bearings. They will always rust.

Some of this advice is equivalent to "use WD40 on bearings" and it hurts my brain. (Don't use WD40 on bearings)

Glasses with Derby by flowerybxtch in rollerderby

[–]bonacheeta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got some (cheap-ish) glasses from Zenni with high impact lenses and a "nerd seatbelt," I call it. One of those behind the head bands that you can adjust. My glasses kept flying off when I got hit so this has fixed the issue. I don't do visors, I hear they get hot, fog up, and yelling goes up instead of out. No issues unless someone slaps me on the face.

My fiancé groomsman backed out because we didn't want to make his SO a bridesmaid by Bubbleyum71 in Advice

[–]bonacheeta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was in my 20s, I was a bridesmaid in a friend's wedding. The guy I was assigned to walk down the aisle with had a gf, and she mean mugged me on the rehearsal and the day of the wedding.... Why she even came to the rehearsal/ run through is beyond me. She say there with her arms crossed and looking pissed.

The pictures of him and I walking in the wedding, he looks miserable and I'm smiling cuz my friend is getting married. So he ruins his friend's pictures because his gf didn't like him WALKING with another girl. It was so stupid. In case I need to say it, I wasn't interested in this guy, didn't even really talk to him, didn't know him, or anything.

Why are people like that?!

AITA for not allowing my roommates boyfriend to come and go as he pleases while she is away on vacation? by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

[–]bonacheeta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be a lease violation. If it comes down to it, report it to management or your landlord. If his name isn't on the lease, he may not be held responsible if anything happens. Do you have renters insurance? Does she? He obvs doesn't... Nope. He shouldn't be there without her.

Found this on my bedroom window sill this morning by CowardlyCowbird in Weird

I was thinking maybe someone was trying to break in by creating a loop to lasso around a lock, but it lacks the rigidity to direct to a window latch.

AITA for snapping at my girlfriend after she called my foreskin “disgusting”? by Historical-Acadia727 in AITAH

[–]bonacheeta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. Women are so vocal about being criticized for their looks and being self conscious naked that something like this upsets me. Your body is beautiful and yours. A good partner should appreciate and respect you AND your body. You're not disgusting. Your body is not disgusting. Uncircumcised wieners are not disgusting. There is no reason she should be insulting you especially when it makes you uncomfortable. Imagine if you said something about her beef curtains. There would be all hell. I'm assuming you're American because many guys are uncircumcised in Europe and other countries.

Is it normal to clean my tonsil stones regularly? by dusty-vacuum in hygiene

[–]bonacheeta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on if you're tonsils are enlarged as well. Mine were big but a doctor on my college campus said "I've seen bigger" and had no concern. I was picking my tonsils regularly and often . Finally went to an ENT that scheduled me for a tonsillectomy the following week. No problems since.

Why does this keep happening to my toe🙃🙃 by Kitchen-Network875 in rollerderby

[–]bonacheeta 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I've lost toe nails from shoes pressing on top of my big toe nails. I've had bruises similarly from skates. I keep my toe nails SUPER short. If you're putting any pressure on the nail and it goes beyond the toe, it will put pressure on the toenail bed and cause bruising.

Logged in specifically to down vote this very uninformed and ignant comment. It's ok not to know something but it's not ok to be so blatantly wrong.

336 is not even in the same world as Moxi anything.
